Grum.

Not sure if you're just playing devil's advocate here, but that's simply illogical.Grumbleweed wrote:Maybe your system killed the last two updates?BBFG# wrote:The last two updates killed Platinum on my system.

It's been working from Sonar X3e through Platinum Newburyport on this system.
So logically, it is the update.
System still works fine, Sonar is actually dead at this point. (Won't install).
They have it listed in their "Knowledge Base" as a known issue. Unfortunately, their proposed solution doesn't work and the fact they have a section for it shows they know it is a major bug.
The only other problem before that was Cakewalk decided to write the 'handling' of controllers different which doesn't allow for two of the same model/type controller to work under the class compliant method. They blamed Microsoft. But again Cubase handles these just fine.
They got their money from me, so maybe their job is done?
Perhaps Cakewalk's definition of 'lifetime' is "until we find a way to kill it".![]()
But don't blame the user(s) for what is obviously a software fail.
I'm very excited about lifetime updates. But can you honestly confirm that you don't have plans for big changes in near future for Sonar, or big announcement for something new after 31st August? Like you did around December 2014 when you made massive discounts for upgrade to X3, and about one month later you announced Sonar Platinum?AROSSA [Cakewalk] wrote:There aren't two classes of SONAR Platinum. The updates themselves are the same for Membership and Lifetime.

I can confirm we do have big plans. And all of them involve SONAR. The workspaces is going to be pretty cool and the start of some UI enhancements. So to answer your question directly, we won't be announcing a new version of SONAR under a different name or anything like that. But we do plan on bringing some cool stuff to SONAR. We have some of it up on our Rolling Updates page. This isn't a plan to deceive customers or anything. It's more of a plan to bring in new customers and make current ones happy.chris.r wrote:I'm very excited about lifetime updates. Didn't you have planned Platinum already in December? I'm very cautious with big announcements and discounts since then.

What are they doing to fix that installation problem with the last two updates for us 'current customers'? Definitely doesn't make me happy at all, especially after being told I would have to buy a new controller since Sonar can't 'handle' it correctly now (while it continues to work great under Cubase and Finale).AROSSA [Cakewalk] wrote:I can confirm we do have big plans. And BTW, I'm getting this issue on Win 8.1 (Xeon V3-3.3Ghz/12GB RAM)Cakewalk FAQ wrote:Last updated on 4/11/2016
Some users may run into trouble with the latest update, seeing numerous errors with the following message:
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3.
This is especially prevalent on Windows 7. The solution is to install Windows Updates. Go into the Windows Control Panel under Windows Updates, and make sure all of your Important updates are installed.
After installing your Windows Updates, try re-running the installer. If you are unable to run the installation from the Command Center, you should be able to find the latest SONAR Update installer in C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads, or you can download it directly from your Cakewalk account.
You can also try re-installing the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 update individually from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=48145
That are excellent news. Thank you for your input.AROSSA [Cakewalk] wrote:I can confirm we do have big plans. And all of them involve SONAR. So what possible interpretations are there for "having the market to iself", other than "having no competitors"?AnX wrote:Thats not what i said, but well done for twisting my wordsjens wrote:Sure, because P5 is the only thinkable replacement for Orion in the whole wide world...AnX wrote:Now orion is dead, P5 would have the market to itself
