Hope everyone is well! I am transitioning into a new space and trying to find a good workflow for my desk. It's super long with nice little cutouts below it for keyboard controllers but it's not super deep. I am feeling a little awkward about the monitor situation. Before this setup I had 3 full monitors my laptop (which in the picture you can see the stand of) a few ipads and my TV. Generally mix view is on one monitor, arrange view on the main, and piano roll/various desktop on the 3rd. Right now I'm only fitting 2 monitors on the desk. Hoping to get the 3rd up there.
My laptop generally has the stem loaded of the project I am on. The ipads are controllers I found this really cool app called Quadro that allows you to control your computer from your ipad. So I literally have a button on Quadro that will create a new track with a new instance of Ample Sounds Martin D41 on it. Really cool stuff check it out.
Anyways the studio monitor placement is super awkward in my setup right now too. I almost want to take the left speaker and spread it all the way to the left corner of the desk like the right one is. Problem is they are HS50s so I'm not sure how that will affect their effectiveness as they really would be in more of a midfield position. The benefit of this is whether I am playing a synth on the right or left side I am within the cone. This also makes the couch the point of my triangle from a mixing standpoint which is never a bad thing
What about putting the monitors behind me? I'd have to figure out the cable run but would free up desk space. Never really seen anyone with stereo monitors behind them. Guessing the stereo image will sound weird but trying to get creative.
I am a carpenter so building shelves mounts etc is in the wheel house!
So I am open to any and all suggestions. What would you do if it was your desk?
Excuse the clutter!

Thanks,
Kevin
