ha, magic! even though i believe magic iz in the hands of any artist (synthesist) with a muse,...i have aamof found a couple advanced timbres and drones from toyi g with several combos of parameters... not only one. ;) when i get back ill mess with Corpus and the stereo filter to see what kind of resonate bodies i can assemble. honestly i haven't even gone through the patches yet so i have no uneaethly idea what it -can- do orher than a bit of modular seq, ungated vca drones and some wt stuff i experimented with previously. iirc there are 16 osc models to check out and i havent even checked out the comb filter or waveguide, etc...so i'll need a few more days to get an overall impression myself. big fan of how the sample/hold module has been implemted. btw, the interface doesn't affect my opinion one way or the otver...it could look as boring as the first Waves plugins years ago. and i would still toy with it. i'm about sound exploration myself.

if you mean Me, not that i know of. have a good one. did you ever get a hang of PWM? got some cool physical modeling potential as well, this Thing
Yes, but i still dont like the filters. Remind me of T2 stuff, metallic and harsh. Not my bag.

ah, T2? who is that? tbh i guess i could sit and run a harmonic-rich signal or sine into the filter and think to myself hmmm this dosn't sound as creamy or resonate like sometthing Simper would model...but i listen to the instrument as a whole and use it in practical context,...and make a decision based on that. i mean, to me it sounds pretty damned ok.

Its not about the filter in isolation (tho thats the first thing i test) ...the filter(s) will affect the instrument as a whole and in practical context. Thats kinda the point. You can do all kinds of tricks on all kinds of synths, but the filter is really the heart. If i dont like it, any amount of tricks and mods are not going to make it sound good to me. YMMV. Enjoy.
the filter in a synth is quite important, i agree...and yeah, i get very micro-analytical with modules sometimes as well...but i also look for good envelope/contour behavior..all the mods and sources...the onboard sequencer and performance control option (big fan of vsts with a morphing facilty). i trylook and listen at how the inStrument sounds as a whole
and what interesting and curious ways a dev implements common modules and routings, etc. whereas it is painful to work with a shitty filter, i don't think this filter is that bad...i'm pretty picky with my sounddesign tools. i don't think sb was attempting to model the character/phasing algos etc of popular filters when designing this one (idk) but i think it's definitely workable in the current state. thanks and take care

wagtunes, have a look at the factory wavetables.
1 wave must contain 33 cycles(with accending antialiasing). one cycle must be 2048 samples long. if you wanna use the wave control, you need at least two of these in chain. the osc will determine the number of waves in a table automatically. again, "wave" means 33 cycles here. the wavetables have been created with a super advanced procedere which we cannot make public easily.

filter: please check the filter smooth option in settings. the more the fader is to the left, the more internal saturation you have, moving towards the ms20 scheme. the filter is a design that has been optimized to work with fm and wavetable osc, which can produce unwanted interaction with usual filter models.
so when you get motorboating or fluttering with filter sweeps using fm or wt with few strong harmonix, rather put the smooth fader to the right.

have a sunny day

Okay, is there ANYBODY here who understands this and can give me a step by step procedure on how to do this because I have NO idea what he's talking about.

I'll get whatever software I need to get in order to do this.

In fact, can this be done in Serum? If so, how?

Thanks.

wagtunes, please write to support@. If you want to create wavetables so desperately, I will try to help you out.
please understand that we currently cannot provide a public wt creator for factory, but we will spin our heads around a solution.
currently there is no power left for writing a manual and provide soft for this task (which was the "can i load my own samples" question we tried to avoid, bringing you the transformer osc).
gimme some time to take a breath in this matter ;)

Trying to avoid the question, when you provide the capability to load WTs into your software, was like trying to avoid getting the plague after being bitten by a hundred infected rats. LOL.

FTR, I love this synth. I have already created 85 patches for it and plan on doing a library of about 250 patches. If I could create my own compatible WTs (I have Audio Term and Serum) it would be great. But so far, none of my attempts with either have been successful, though I haven't tried every possibility yet.

Not trying to cause you any problems. That's the last thing I want to do. But as a sound designer whose living depends on this, if I could come up with my own custom WTs, I think it would greatly increase the value of the library.

Problem is, I am not a tech person. So when you start talking about cycles and samples, forget it. I tried doing a WT in serum with 33 steps (I assume that's a cycle but don't know) and then reimporting to 2048 FFT, but that didn't work. So I'm stuck. I don't know what else to do.

If you don't mind me writing to support, I will. I'll even sign a non disclosure agreement if I have to in order to learn the procedure. I have no problem doing that.

But yes, I believe being able to do this is critical to the success of my sound library.

sorry i mixed that up. of course modern is left and good for problematic harmonix (fm, wt),
vintage is right (bringing in the saturation).

That surprising to me given your talent; I found a lot of the presets (especially the self playing S/H modular sounding stuff) very inspiring and quite different to the norm. I guess its horses for courses, but I found this very easy to make soundscape, modular mayhem and very animated pads (I will try and soundcloud a few latter), perhaps not the best for very creamy lead sounds, but not everything can be Diva et al, I remember a lot of people not liking Serum when it first came out (described as cold, digital, harsh etc with a horrible reverb.....) but over time it became more popular....I think for a '1' release Factory is very good and sounds different to the usual VA offerings, and I can hear the GUI singing to me :ud:
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

That sounds perfect for you then.

Gui style.
I don't like the sub Native Instruments reaktor etc, interfaces.
The feedback the gui gives, I think, should have numbers. Pink is positive, blue is negative?

It's a damn shame I like this thing so much. I really don't need it and barely write synth stuff except to kill time. It's freaking amazingly easy to make very playable patches and the mod matrix is pretty rad on it's own. I would love to see a readout of the value somewhere on the GUI when adjusting a parameter. Some of the parameters like delay times and frequencies of things would be nice if they could be seen and adjusted to specific values. Either way. Good job. Anybody wanna buy cyclop? It won't be seeing much use now that this thing can do everything it does and more with a way better interface.

Okay, I heard back from support on the wavetable thing.

Question:

Is there a Reaktor ensemble that anybody knows about that creates wavetables?

Also, is there anybody here who thinks they can create an editor that can create WTs for Factory.

Thank you.

Would you share what you were told, so as to give "us" a better idea of the requirements?

As it stands, it appears to require a wav, with 33 (single) cycles of 2048 each, with a low pass filtering out (anti-aliasing) half the sampling rate. If you want to use "wave control" you simply 'stitch' two or more of these "33-cycle wavs" together.

I could be wrong, but that is how I read it. I don't have the demo yet, so I haven't analyzed an example.

I like what I have seen and heard of this synth, and love SB's stuff in general (including Cyclops), but would also desire to make/load my own wavetables, and very much see that difficulty, as an hopefully remediable oversight. [2c]
