hi everybody, I need help with something and would appreciate if you could help me
I want to separate two sounds sources from a sound archive. What's recorded is the voice of a man with its echoe, and in the background there's noise of a sort of industrial a/c. I would like to separete those sources and to have in the end just the voice and the echoe.
I've tried a couple of things with software I have but doesn't work. I've tried noise removal but the bg sound is not very well recognised. Also tried to nullify the bg sound by inverting one of stereo tracks and then mixing it up, but then the echoe sounds terrible...
I was wondering if someone knew a good software for doing this and could let me know...
thanks a lot!!

not really possible I dont think..
you can identify and cut the frequencies in the vocal to get the instrumental and vice versa but its most likely never going to sound pretty..
kind of like making a cake.. put all the ingredients in the bowl and stir it up.. after you have batter I need to you remove ONLY the eggs..
see its pretty much impossible.
HOWEVER.. there is software that can analyze noise patterns and lower or potentially cut them out of the recording.. but the 'noise' pattern will have to be pretty much the same throughout and you'll need a part of the recording where its ONLY that pattern playing (kind of like the hiss on old tapes)
as far as names and company websites.. I havent a clue.. search for noise reduction software

cool edit can analyse noise patterns and remove it. for some sounds/noise it works pretty well.

It'll be difficult using Cool Edit's filters (I don't think you can get old version sof CollEdit any more, so you'll need to try Adobe Audition.)
Using a static snapshot as a FFT filter is great for constant sounds, but tougher for things that change over time.
Have you tried isolating and reducing the background noise with EQ? You could maybe try using an expander to reduce the loudness of all sounds as well and see where you end up. Maybe do a google on "Audio restoration technique" to see if you find any good tips.
Cheers,
Steve
