Testing the improved spectral re-synthesis in Alchemy/Logic 10.2.3

Is the spectral resynthesis improved in 10.2.3? Or was it improved earlier with Alchemy 2 and you are just getting around to trying it?

It was further improved with this update and I have been using it since day 1.

From the release notes:

Sound quality is improved in Alchemy when samples are imported using Additive + Spectral Analysis Mode.

I tested it with all sorts of samples and it's indeed improved, less artifacts, more balanced frequency spectrum, more natural sound (if you a re re-synthesizing acoustic samples that is).

...and compared to Alchemy 1 where 90% of the re-synthesized samples sounded crap and you could only use one sample per source (now lmitless multisamples), Alchemy 2 is a quantum leap.

sweet... that is good news! I've always felt a bit of disappointment with the character in that exact regard. Thanks for the report

There are still web pages dedicated to the audio industry stating which audio stuff does not yet work under 10.11. I think its positively outrageous and arrogant for Apple to force 10.11 updates upon users in order to get this "minor" update to LPX. Furthermore its preposterous that Apple continues to force people to upgrade the OS every year just to keep up with the software they use...particularly when these OS upgrades often contain as many new problems as new features. I actually really love using OSX....but Apple is doing everything in its power to ruin my user experience, every year they pull some crap like this.

Stop complaining. Apple is fruit, apple is love, apple is life, apple is God.

El Capitan is now rock solid for me.
Logic 10.2.3 is a great update.

All my plug-ins seems to work and Logic 10.2.3 finally solved some bugs after a lot months.
The new additions to Alchemy are nice (but hell it loses it´s Magic since Apple bought it and removed some features and there are not much new sound libraries to come) and the chinese loops and instruments are welcome (but it´s more fun to play them via their smart-intrument in Garage Band iOS).
Was the Logic Remote app updated too? The iPhone remote app is sadly limited to mixing and not supposed to be a performing tool. Can´t check that out yet but interested in iPad Pro for such things.
Sculpture is still by far the most interesting Logic instrument and i hope someday it get´s a version 2.0 with some new additions and retina UI.
Ultrabeat is also old but one of the best tools in this area....needs proper graphics too.
Now also Logic Pro Mobile version and i would be happy with it finally.
I wanted to migrate to Bitwig but i must say that Logic is still the king (for my personal needs) when it comes to easy workflow, included FX, midi FX and instruments. Space Designer, Delay Designer, Sculpture and all the other included synths are still awesome even when they look old and dated.
Just that it likes to crash down completly or freeze from time to time, no multi-touch friendly and that it doesn´t have proper intern tuning sucks a bit (too limited).
Maybe Logic Pro 10.3. or 11 will offer all this.
I still hope for new Macbooks Pro 15" (or larger) in near future too Monday?....

I don't like Apple and I don't particularly like computers. It is a necessary tool and I buy Apple because it requires the least amount of time spent on the machine and allows the most time for doing the stuff that I have the computer for.

Well spoken, a word from the trenches.
This is what it all comes down to, choosing a TOOL. All the other usual love-fest, hate-fest comments on forums regarding who has biggest d***, I mean best computer/DAW are meaningless or anecdotal at most and just keeps one away from using the tool and make music.

So your girl/wife decides one day to get new clothes, haircut and color, darkens skin tan, goes all out on makeup and suddenly she demands you to treat her differently, take her out on more expensive places and etc, but things you expected she will change, she didn't, but yeah, here's break up/divorce if you don't settle with that.

That's Logic X for me, I never wanted that change in her nor do I have the need or money to support her and on top of that, all that fixing is beyond unnecessary for me.

Yes, she changed enough for me to not look her the same way, she looks and feels now different and she is really expensive to maintain with all that, but in case of Logic 9, I will stay on 9 and 10.6.8 as much as I can and that's it.

I'm still prevaricating about upgrading to El Cap - no rush, I did the same for Logic X tbh too but when they added Alchemy 2 I took the plunge and am glad I did - it loads much much faster and is much snappier than Logic 9 which I had virtually stopped using it was so sluggish. Took me a while to find everything but now I'm used to it I prefer the interface too.

Actually it just hit me that Logic is actually the only host I have that has actually speeded up since I first bought it, both in terms of startup time and general snappiness. Bitwig has got progressively slower loading, Live is just impossible - sluggish to start, use and crazy sluggish to close, S1 has always been pretty slow and CPU heavy, and even Tracktion is a bit slower than it was (although still the fastest overall). Logic X is significantly faster than Logic 9 was, and seems to be getting snappier with every update - amazing really.

Only thing that bums me out is that the screen redrawing from the PC days slowed way the hell down. The screen sets used to refresh instantly with a shitty Madrox card on my ancient PC and after switching to Mac (after apple purchased emagic) the screen redraws/changes got incredibly slow.

If you don't mind telling, which version of OS X and Logic 9 was first that you got and are you comparing same version of OS X?

Why I'm asking this, had a chance not long ago to try 10.2.2 and 9.1.8 side by side on 10.9.5 and 9.1.8 was snappier for sure.
