Hello! I hope this is the right subforum to ask (if not, please tell me where to post correctly)
Is it possible to get stereo in direct monitoring a digital piano thru a scarlett 2i2?
I´ve read it only goes mono when direct mon. in 2i2 but maybe someone knows a way around messing around with some software/driver??
Any ideas are welcome! As well as suggesting other usb interface in the same pricerange that you know can monitor in stereo...
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

If it has stereo inputs, it would be really weird if that folds back to mono in direct monitoring...

Well then, it certainly IS very weird, check this review where it says "output" https://simplehomerecording.com/2014/09 ... i2-review/BertKoor wrote:If it has stereo inputs, it would be really weird if that folds back to mono in direct monitoring...
Anyway imthinking about selling this 2i2 and get a 2i4 wich I think (and HOPE) has stereo monitoring... otherwise IDK why on earth it would have that mono/stereo switch.
Anyone owns a 2i2/2i4 and want to share thoughts?

Ah you're right, the inputs are both with a preamp. Thus not designed to be used for line-level stereo pair input. It's made for home recording of mic and guitar, and maybe a synth.
Maybe you want another interface (of another manufacturer) more tailored to your needs. Could you elaborate what the items are you want to record & monitor?

What I really was trying to do was to mix a digital piano with sample sounds from a laptop, but I wanted the resulting mix to come out stereo. So instead of a mixer I decided to go with a usb interface, I thought Illl just plug the d.piano to the IN and so we´ll have both laptop AND piano sound coming out the interface´s outputs, AND(!) as a bonus the interface would help the laptop´s performance AND I can record some things when needed (not my goal here, but It doenst hurt to have the option).
As you may asume the whole plan went perfect except for the one detail that the piano doesnt came out in stereo thru the 2i2 when monitoring live (say in gigs o rehersals), hence my previous questions about that concern.
Anyway I ended up selling the 2i2 and getting 2i4, which does have stereo monitoring as well as every other good aspects the previous had, plus MIDI in/out

Good for you! Glad it worked out.leandrusi wrote:Anyway I ended up selling the 2i2 and getting 2i4, which does have stereo monitoring as well as every other good aspects the previous had, plus MIDI in/out
Lots of folks don't realize that there is a world of difference between the 2i2 and the 2i4, but it's significant. And it's only a few dollars more. And that means you've got MIDI ports now too, in case you decide you want to hook up that piano with MIDI in the future.
