I'm searching for a field recorder and would appreciate any help. I would prefer a mic with a lightning connector to record directly to iOS devices. I want to use it for recording ambient sounds in nature, one shots like hitting a rock, glass breaking, cars passing by.. that type of stuff. 44.1khz is all i really need for the sample rate. I would also like to keep it around $100-$150 USD (which is why i didn't include the Rode i-XY's specs below. The lightning version of rode i-xy is $200)

So a few questions...

1) Will the XY design of the iQ6 be better than the MV88's single capsule design for stereo width? Apparently the MV88 has 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135 optional degrees when using it with the ShurePlus MOTIV app.. but i'm still not sure which design is better for stereo width.

2) Is Bit depth important in field recordings? Because the iQ6 is limited to 16 bit..

3) Any first hand experiences with these mics? :)

I found this article on the mics, but it didn't sound like they had any first hand experience... they only reviewed the specs..
