Hello all,

Image

I am pleased to announce the availability of the 8.5.20 maintenance update for Cubase Pro 8.5 and Cubase Artist 8.5.

The update resolves several issues in different areas of the applications and offers improvements to the MediaBay Rack, Timeline operation by mouse and Export Audio Mixdown.

• MediaBay Rack now features a dedicated “User Presets” pane to access all MediaBay managed user presets for different types of media.

• Timeline operation by mouse is now possible when depressing <CTRL/CMD & ALT> keys and clicking the upper draw area so that the left and right locators are positioned at the same nearest snapped position.

• Export Audio Mixdown now includes the option “Don't Use RF64 compliant File Format”. If enabled, you can export wave files, which are compatible with third-party legacy products, which do not comply to the RF64 format.

The update is now available for download from the Steinberg website. For detailed information, please view the corresponding Version History document on the download page.

The Elements version was updated less than a month ago with the 8.0.40 update:

There will not be a .5 update for elements, there has never been a .5 update for the elements version.

ok, i see. after dropping the full version at v5 i only sporadically update elements so haven't noticed that. thanks for the explanation.

On a unrelated note: I really like that the full installers get the latest update from the net while installing, and patches the version to the latest version. So you don't have to download the full installer, and potential updates.

Nice, I see that also some other bugs are fixed and the updater works as expected without any problems :tu:

Is that standard now? What happened to the regular old 200+MB update packs?
Because I do prefer offline maintenance updates...

I only spoke about the full installer, if you refered to what i have posted. In case of a complete new, or reinstall. The update is still some 300+ MB file (just click on one the links in the OP).

Is the new Elements version HiDPI/Retina ready? Can't look into these pixels anymore if you are used to all the new sharp DAWs like 8.5 Pro, Studio One, Live, Bitwig, Pro Tools, Logic...

I spotted a pretty awesome feature enhancement.

We all know about the Import Track from Project feature. It's been enhanced in 8.5.20. When you import a track(s), it not only imports the midi, but now also imports the effects and instruments used.

I don't know if this was how it was supposed to work previously, but I frequently used the Import from project feature and this never happened until today's update.

Kudos to Steinberg. This is why I love Cubase despite it's flaws.

Not completely, but the fonts have been optimised so now the fonts do not look so pixelated as before.

Hello again Theo,
TheoM wrote:Guillermo are they ever going to fix the vintage plugin AU's? The vst collection STILL Crashes with groove drum thingie, and halion crashes now and then if you have changed many patches.. even in Cubase.

But regardless, after lusting for the yamaha vintage FX for 3 years but them always being a silly price, i got them at a blowout sale sealed from a store.. I could not test them since mavericks as that is when i demoed them.. the elicenser demo license has long expired.

But BECAUSE they worked fine on mavericks, and BECAUSE i decided to take another chance with steinberg, and because they were on sale, and because steinberg clearly say they are compatible with 10.10 and 10.11.. i took the plunge.
$150 AUD down the drain (50 for each pack basically instead of 150+ each as in the steinberg store.. so yes of course i jumped on it).

It is NOT right, that i created a thread about them 2 months ago now, and once again, that is now $800 to steinberg for software that has literally given my computer nightmares.

You really have no right to advertise these as working when they don't.

OK, the vst THREE works fine in Cubase even in retina mode.

The AU doe snot let knobs move at ALL, whatsoever.. in retina mode.. in Logic.

If i put logic into low res mode, the knobs will now move, but after maybe two or three turns logic does a hard crash. They are completely broken, just as i said the absolute collection was, and just as i was correct then, I am correct now again.

I simply want to use what I paid for.. is it too much to ask?
A little bit off topic are we? Perhaps you should just post this on your other thread...
You already knew that the plug-ins are not retina compatible neither supported, I have all of them installed on a non retina system and everything works perfectly.

As always pleas send your crash reports through the official channels so our developers can have a look at them.
