After testing this fine beast I immediately bought the three Intellijel modules as well.
So I am waiting for your sound bank at least for the standard modules :D.
And don't fed me up with modular bleeps and noises. This is what my nephew creates on my real modular while randomly patching cables anyway . Make it musically and playable, more Wendy Carlos-esque... :ud:
Ah, Wendy (Walter) Carlos. I grew up with him/her, whatever. One of my childhood idols along with Susan Ciani, Klaus Shulze, Brian Eno and Tomita.

Don't worry. Only a few bleeps and bloops.

I mean what library would be complete without them? LOL

This argument is a funny one. You never owned a iLok license, right? You can transfer any iLok license in minutes around the world especially the Softube ones as these don't need any additional serial number transfers.
The luck (and patience) must be on your side with shipping expensive hardware from one continent to another. :clown:
...and pay the $25 transfer fee to transfer a module you paid $40 for?
Still cheaper than shipping a hardware module from San Francisco to Europe. :clown:

Damn.. Feels like I should start harrassing my local instrument store keeper to get one in his store. Then maybe I could try it and if I like it, we could maybe make a nice partial payment deal 8)
Bug them to get the OB-6 in as well to play with. P6 and OB-6 are both incredible, modern analog polys that can still go back into yesteryear sound-wise. There's no comparison playing them and twiddling with the knobs to something along the lines of Diva.

And...this modular really does sound fantastic. I haven't even delved into the Intellij stuff yet.

Well, you are wrong. I actually have iLok licenses. I'm not talking about the transfer process itself. The point being that when you offer the very module you have initially bought for $30 it costs a $25 license transfer fee, doesn't it? So again, good luck with selling a module.

Err.. you can easily get back 80-90% of the money you've spent on a hardware module. No need to ship overseas anyway. Your argument is invalid.

There are constantly activated UVI iLok licenses on the used market which originally cost only $30. Just look into the marketplace even here on kvr! So nothing new there too. I don't get what your problem is? Do you recommend Softube to sell the modules for $400 just for a better resale price or what? This all makes no sense.. Just stop whining because of this hilarious $25 which are still cheaper than shipping international parcels.

I still don't get people who buy to resale or to demo. When i buy it its for good.

yeah, Im enjoying the doepher oscillator and filter its nice... easier to get sweet spots than the intellijel, which I'm finding pretty complex beasts, and have resorted to searching muffwiggler for patching suggestions. (the intellijel uFold is very nice too) , the signal and logic utilises are very useful
its pretty cool, how well ideas transfer from the hardware modules over to the software.

funny thing, ive been considering building a eurorack system for a while, and this is starting to influence what I think i might need... (mainly a bigger case, and alot more vcas)

back to my tangled mess of virtual cables :)

Exactly. And if I don't use it anymore in a few years I only burned $30 which is still less than 10% (as mentioned by Dostoyevsky - in real life it's much more than 10% of course) from the hardware module which would be over $40 in case of the Intellijel Korgasmatron.
In other words: more money burned with the hardware.
So still a highly illogical argumentation. In the end just the usual iLok trolling...

Please don't do that. Intentional or not, it signals a basic disrespect for transgenedered people, including the very one you claimed to idolize.

Wendy Carlos is Wendy Carlos. If she wanted to be "Wendy (Walter)" she would have had her name changed to "Wendy (Walter)." And unless she has ever asked to be referred to using an awkward dual set of pronouns, just use "her."

There's really no need for real or feigned confusion about peoples' clearly declared gender.

Hey lighten up man. I have nothing but the utmost respect for her. So stop trying to stir up a tempest in a tea pot which is so damn common around here I'm getting sick of it.

@thetechnobear, @hivkorn & @kmonkey

Thanks for your answers to my question guys.

I think my ageing Sennheiser 580s are still pretty good and I can hear a difference, not a priori an improvement, but a difference nonetheless. I will listen harder

In terms of ease of use, Reaktor is definitely way less immediate, but Oscillot is very easy to patch, stick macro controls in etc.

thats what I think could be game changing, sure its another (modular) soft synth, but its association with real hardware, changes the relationship a bit.
of course, it will only be 'game changing' if other manufactures do jump on board... or if it leads to another platform which they jump onto.

Personally, I hope softube succeed... then perhaps do what Doepher did for eurorack hardware.. softube could open the platform make an api for 3rd party developers... but very early days for that wish.
I hope they succeed too, and I may yet open the wallet to put my bit in, but I do feel much will rest on this.

From their website it seems that they are doing the DSP for third parties at the moment. They have the expertise. Other hardware manufacturers will not (necessarily) have the analog modelling expertise for their own kit, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Again, thanks for your replies; I wasn't being cheeky, I'm just trying to unpick what my ears are not entirely convincing themselves of just yet.

Cheers.

I'ma have side with @foosnark on this one. :tu:

Back to Softube Modular, anyone?

After running through some patches, I have to say this is the best purchase I've made in years. GUI is fantastic, and the sound is even better.

Not to mention Wendy released 8 albums under the name Walter including her most popular Switched on Bach. It seems reasonable to say Wendy/Walter in this context when discussing her career as it spans both identities.
