First impressions after using it for about an hour.

I cant stand the new look and the new way the layout works.

I find it a real backwards step, I cant vouch for performance as I wont create a project in it.

Im glad im not going to upgrade. Save myself 182 quid.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

I'm in my second week of the trial, and for me, I've found enough reasons to upgrade.

The deep midi functionality, score view, and chord track are all things that my primary DAW lacks or could use some serious help on.

I have feelings similar to yours about the looks - specifically, the MixConsole. I can't stand it. Couldn't stand its debut in 7.0, and now IMO it's just U-G-L-Y on steroids. A look closer to v6, with some refinements would have been perfect, but no.... (Again, in my opinion).

So in the near future I'm going to try composing/tracking with 8.5, and continue to use my other DAW for mixing, and we'll see how it goes.

(Another advantage for me... My audio interface is a Steinberg UR28M, which offers tight integration and extra features with Cubase!).
