Possibly my favourite film of all time. Amazing soundtrack too. The game S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow Of Chernobyl has an absolutely stunning dark ambient style soundtrack. Have you played it? Seeing as - I suspect - you're a gamer (with the Alice reference) you absolutely must play it if you haven't!!
Definitely one of my favourite films too?

Yes, I have indeed played it. Still not got around to the sequels though, which is a bone of contention I have with myself. I think its about time I went through them all now that there's remastered versions.
I loved the Cliff Martinez ST for the 'interesting' remake of Solaris - one of my favourite OST's.
Its not a remake I expected to work, but I think it does.

Run, Lola, Run

The only movie ever where I walked directly out of the theater to the music shop down the street and bought the soundtrack immediately. I couldn't even go home without picking it up.

Il Casanova Di Federico Fellini (1976) Soundtrack - Nino Rota

Bernard Herrmann

Gil Mellé - The Andromeda Strain (1971)
"It dreamed itself along"

1984 is an excellent soundtrack also

Stephen King's Christine is the most memorable one I can think of now. Also loved Reservoir Dogs but not sure if that's the kind of soundtrack we're going for here.

When I heard Hello Earth by Kate Bush, I was totally mesmerized by that ghostly chorus.

Several years later when I get a chance to listen to the Nosferatu soundtrack, I learn that she had actually sampled Florian Fricke/Popol Vuh

...and no mention of Home of the Brave yet ? :o

Often considered among Fellini's worst films, no? For those guys writing music for a great director no doubt far outweighed such considerations.

Another nice piece from Rota's great collaboration with Fellini: Juliet of the Spirits' Il Teatrino delle Suore.

there must have been some kind of osmosis between Fellini and Rota. Fellini's Casanova is not that bad, imo :D

It appears that I have really poor taste in movie soundtracks. The ones I've listened to the most over the years:
Exodus
Better Off Dead
Somewhere in Time
Frantic (excellent Grace Jones "seen that face before" song)

What Reznor did with The Social Network was solid.
Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.

* Once Upon A Time In America (Ennio Morricone allways make wonderful music)
* Gladiator
* The Godfather (Speak Softly Love)

And I like "Over The Rainbow" from The Wonderfu Wizard Of Oz :-)
