It only crashed the one time; I played with it for a few minutes after that without any additional trouble. Still not a great first impression.

Tell me about.. It's ok in Reaper for example but save a preset in Bitwig.. You can't open it in any other daw -_-foosnark wrote:Preset loading: Bazille has it. Softube relies on the host, and Maschine VST preset loading is awkward.
Guess you didn't notice that polyphony module? IMO you can't really even compare these two because Bazille exactly "just does it" without the freedom of real modular.foosnark wrote:Polyphony: Bazille just does it; this is software and it doesn't screw around. Softube sticks with more realistically, but less conveniently and flexibly, not doing it.
Again, can't really compare. Different beasts. Afaik Bazille isn't even trying to be an analog emulation. Softube on the other hand..foosnark wrote:Sound overall: Both are excellent; Softube may have a slight edge.
You'll love those modules, you just don't know it yetfoosnark wrote:Modules: I like Softube's filter, and the logic/utility modules. I like the fact its modules are actually modular, instead of just the routing like in Bazille. But it has a lot of stuff I'm unlikely to use much (the sequencer, multiple kinds of "performance" modules etc.)

Have you tried with full unison?foosnark wrote:CPU: I honestly didn't check in Softube, but Bazille is pretty low CPU.

I did notice the polyphonic MIDI to CV module, but I wouldn't enjoy having to duplicate every module per voice as on a real modular. I prefer Bazille's approach.Lejurai wrote:Guess you didn't notice that polyphony module? Nah, I know how I work, and I would rarely use them. I prefer to sequence from my host rather than inside instruments.Lejurai wrote:You'll love those modules, you just don't know it yet
Not gonna buy it anyway, so I won't love those modules

People, when you run the installer, you only select the items you want installed! You don't have to install everything in there! And it should pick up any items you already have licenses for and put them in the install section.
To remove items, re-run the installer and deselect anything you want uninstalled, leaving any things you had installed previously or have licenses for.
It's really not that complicated!
Automation of parameters indeed works - in both Live and S1 I was able to automate things. It's a bit of a pain, but it's definitely do-able.
And for those that just got the base package, I highly recommend the Intellij MFold II. You can really sculpt the waveform and get a lot more options than the typical waveforms using it. The Korgasmatron filter is really freaking great as well if you like MS-20 like filter capabilities. Thing screams pretty good.

I'm rather irked to realize that, while there are three different sequencers, none of them offer the ability to scan through the steps under cv control, or a direction toggle, or even just different playback modes. As cool as Modular is, there is still tons of basics missing. I wonder how many of those we'll see in a future update as basic utility modules, or will we be stuck paying for every new module from here on out?

The easiest thing to do is build beginning templates as presets so you don't have to do this on a regular basis. Check the "tutorial" presets in Module. Those are great places to start out from.foosnark wrote:I did notice the polyphonic MIDI to CV module, but I wouldn't enjoy having to duplicate every module per voice as on a real modular. Hi mate, NI released a further update to maschine, in their words....foosnark wrote:Windows 7, Maschine 2.4.5.hivkorn wrote:I don't know your setup but mine is really stable ! (Osx 10.10.5 + Cubase Art. 8.5.20)

"The MASCHINE 2.4.5 update uploaded to Service Center on Tuesday contains a critical issue that affects certain third-party plug-ins. A new version, 2.4.6, fixes this issue and is available to all MASCHINE 2 software users. Please upgrade to this new version as 2.4.5 will not be supported. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."
Maybe modular is one of those affected...

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with modular and am wondering if anyone else is seeing it.
Basically the UI seems to stall, if a grab a knob and turn it the knob will stick for 0.5 second.
This also effects the Daw (tried Cubase, Live and Logic) so the graphics in the DAW will also stall, for example the playhead.
This happens just loading a patch into modular not even playing any sound, every so often everything stalls, makes it totally unusable.
This is on a MacPro 12 core trashcan, 10.11.5
Cheers
Andy

yeah, some of the softube modules could do with a bit more CV control... and quite a few extra modules would be useful, that probably don't need to be licensed (quantiser, xfade)deastman wrote:I'm rather irked to realize that, while there are three different sequencers, none of them offer the ability to scan through the steps under cv control, or a direction toggle, or even just different playback modes. I hope its v1, so would hope softube will continue to develop the 'factory' modules as well as licensed content... also there model/ilok appears to allow for bundles of modules to be sold, so perhaps we will see this too.
agreed...foosnark wrote: I did notice the polyphonic MIDI to CV module, but I wouldn't enjoy having to duplicate every module per voice as on a real modular. I prefer Bazille's approach.
for my uses, Ive actually be using multiple instances of modular on different tracks, loaded with the same preset. but that only works for me, since Ive got notes on different midi channels.
No graphical issues here that I've noticed - Ive been using it a lot on my iMac and MBP with Live 9.6.1 64 bitBobDog wrote: Basically the UI seems to stall, if a grab a knob and turn it the knob will stick for 0.5 second.

I did also try it a bit on with Cubase/Logic (iMac only) ,again no issue, but these were only for an half and hour or so.
I think for v1 is a solid start, sure things can be improved... but if its successful I'm sure they will.
