So why no thread about it yet, looks pretty interesting:

Wow, very uninspiring & unexciting sound demos I must say... To me at least. It might be a 'new' type of synthesis, the sounds are not.

Maybe that's one of the reason why it passed under the radar?

It's this section that sets it apart, that freeze function could yield interesting results I think

Indeed. Interersting.

This might be the type of synth that needs to be demoed. I find the sound examples very weak and generic but still it might worth a try...

The intro video is garbage. And the price...

But I'm glad 112dB is not dead.

There is a 60 days demo! I think it should be enough time to judge it :)

Yep that's pretty cool I have to say. I like 112db as a company and if this synth is great, I just think it's a bit sad their sound demos aren't.

Will give this thing a try this weekend. Who knows, might be a little hidden gem.

Hey, the video was just some funny stuff Martijn and I put together quickly. It was mostly meant to amuse. We thought that it could grab some attention so that people would download the demo and see for themselves what the fuzz was all about. We never expected the video itself to be under such close scrutiny.
A proper tutorial/demo is in the making. It was planned for the release as well, but to be honest, we completely underestimated the time that it would take to create a good tutorial. We promise that that one will be a bit more serious.

Cascade is a combination of a classic subtractive synthesizer and a new method of synthesis, based on a complex delay network that can "densify" a sound up to 5832 times. That doesn't mean that a sound you create with cascade will per definition sound 'denser'. It can also be more lush and spacious, depending on the settings you choose. What makes Cascade unique however is that a sound can develop over time, adding extra dimensions to it. And that you can select the most interesting part of this development process as the part you want to hear.
But it is not granular?

Trying to find a synth to compare it with, that description makes me think of PadShop Pro for example?

Post

It's not granular.
As you like diffusion delays, you might like this one too ;)
It's quite smooth, lush, etheral... Not an instant pad-maker, but a bit like an extra space polisher...

Post

Yup, reading the manual, I start to understand more how the sound can be shaped :)
Cascade gives you 5 types of delay network models to choose from.

Freeze the sound for the time you set the ‘Time’ knob to. This gives you a sound loop with
100 percent feedback. You can use this function to build up resonating sounds.

You can use the LFO and the envelopes not only to modulate the oscillators and the filters of the
subtractive synthesizer, you can use them to modulate the Cascade synthesis as well. This will
modulate the delay times. If feedback (freeze) is turned on, it will modulate the feedback loop as
well.
So instead of PadShop Pro, a better description could be Retrologue (or any subtractive synth) fed trough an Effect like Frostbite

Yes, the overall architecture and sound reminds me of a Juno (both deep and polished, "liquid", clean but beefy), with some shimmery added with the casdade synthesis.

The price aint bad, in basket the synth costs $99 as far as I can see [intro price until Sep 1, thereafter $179]
