In the seventies I only had total hardware and sold it all when performer for Mac came out then got a DX7 and Prophet 600, and then I got rid of them as well.
For me now is going to be an addiction substitute.
What I love the most is "No Copy Protection" :D

FWIW, over the years I chose a handful of hardware and software that I am totally nuts about. I never have enough time to use them as much as I want. Buying new stuff and learning that stuff takes too much time away. Its not worth it. Its not the money, its the time.

My only purchases so far...

Cyclop
Dex And Daina Vocoloid
ArcSyn
Arturia V5 Collection
Factory
Softube Modular

Total expenditure...$699

On my to-get list

Curve 2
Minimonsta
Iris 2

And that's it.

So my total expenses this year will be a little over $1100.

Last year it was a little over $2400. So I'm getting better.

Still need a support group...but getting better.
Based on the assumption nothing nothing new is released or you learn of something that currently exists and you decide you need to have.

Youre relativity new to buying software so of course the curve is logarithmic at the beginning and tails of as you acquire stuff that has existed for some time
Yes, I am relatively new but you know what, I have gone through just about everything that's out there and there is a ton of stuff that's on my crossed off list.

This is just a short list of stuff I'll never be getting.

Symtohm
Diversion
AIR Loom
Rhino
Oxium
Synplant
Enzyme
Spire
Razor
Lush 101
Roland SH2
Helix
Surge
VirtualCZ
Sunrizer
Tera 3
HALion 5

Plus, I already own 88 soft synths.

So in truth, there really isn't a lot left for me to get. The few things I listed were mostly from Music Radar's top 50 list. Everything else I either already have or have written off as not needed.

Plus, a lot of older synths I won't get because their GUIs are so small, a problem that exists with quite a few of the synths I've listed above.

Then there are synths I won't get because I feel they are overpriced.

After all the smoke clears, if there's 10 synths that exist that I am even remotely interested in getting, it's a lot.

Yes, I am still waiting for Flexion, but it looks like that's never coming out. It's been a year since I signed up for the beta program and still never got contacted.

This isn't to say that I'm totally ruling out getting something if it interests me, but the number of synths coming out that are doing that are getting fewer and fewer.

I honestly don't expect to break $2,000 this year. I'd be stunned if I did.
If you make dubstep or dnb, Razor is a must buy...

Well, I don't make dubstep or dnb. So much for the must buy.

Hehe.. Maybe I could write my synth list here..

Well, you've raped Cyclop so you could find some new perspective for Razor too :)

And then maybe you could make a list of synths you will never be getting. That would be interesting.

Currently that's my complete wishlist:

- AIR instruments pack: Loom, Vacuum Pro, Hybrid 3.
- Iris 2
- FM8
- Oscillot

Effects:

- Stutter Edit
- Polaris
- UVI Relayer

In fact I don't need any new VSTI instruments to make awesome music 8) , but plan to get VIP keyboard with AIR instruments Pack next month. It solves the first-world problem of too many VSTIs to manage.
The general rule is that I avoid buying things that duplicate functionality I've already covered. So all mentioned instruments have something unique in their design or sound. Iris 2 in particular is a big sample library for me :D But that's nothing urgent. I can wait forever for sales, money or just give them up. I am free

The effects part is more interesting. Stutter Edit will let me go more dope with live DJing. Relayer is a monster for all kind of progressive music, while Polaris is abeats on its own, generating reverbant textures out of thin air.

32bit synths and those that cost 200€ or over :D (softube modular is bought piece by piece so it's not 200€ or over, it's 20-40€ per piece :hihi: )

Bought U-He Ace. Not because i like it or anything. Just to finish U-He synth collection as im a U-He synths fan.

I actually dont like the GUI alot, especialy those assymetrical knob markers. But the sound is gorgeus.

Also got myself Realitone The ladies v2 Lite. I needed quality solo voices library with a proper legato for my new track.
