My old Harman Kardon AV100 is dying. What's good these days for about $300? I've dot decent big bookshelf Boston Acoustic speakers and a KLH powered sub. My surround sound speakers are pretty good too. I listen to a lot of music on the system, Apple Music and vinyl, but it's also our TV sound.

I think Onkyo provides the best bang for the buck. Most people say they run hot and I agree. I had a few problems with mine but it was fixed with their special program for certain receivers. It was technically out of warranty but they fixed it anyway. Since I started running a cooling fan on the receiver I haven't had a problem since.
Also, Onkyo owns Pioneer now, st least as far as receivers go.

Hm, are they reputable? Seems like they have good prices.b4serenity wrote:I think Onkyo provides the best bang for the buck. Most people say they run hot and I agree. I haven't purchased there (since Onkyo fixed my receiver), but they did come highly recommended by people who have.
I use a smart power strip that senses when I power on my receiver, then it powers on a separate stereo amp, the Bluray and the cooling fans...very convenient.
