But what's the benefits of loading third party vst's into Prisma?

Why not just use the functions inside a DAW instead, if wanting to stack and play VSTs on several channels at the same time.

Find the installedPlugins.xml file in your installation directory and edit it. Copy one section ( <PLUGIN ..... /> ) and paste it within <KNOWNPLUGINS> ... </KNOWNPLUGINS>. Edit the parameters, like name and file (path).

I have only tested this with one plugin so far though, but the only limitations I have found yet is that you don't get an icon of the synth in the Prisma main window, and you can't change preset bank within the Prisma interface (you can change this if you load the plugin though, "EDIT PLUG-IN").

Sorry, I was too quick posting this. But it seems like you cannot save the presets with the 3rd party synths, and saving the project in your DAW does not work either. Which makes this "trick" pretty useless, other than for testing.

But Prisma is tailor made for Rob Papen plugs, it comes with several hundred multi patches, so Prisma adds more value for Papen users.

Well, convenience and speed is one thing. It's easy to split the keyboard and stack the synths in just a few clicks. You can change synths, individual presets, and make lots of changes quickly from the one interface.

There are macro controls which would more difficult to set up in your DAW.

Also, you can save, store, and share the presets with users of any DAW.

Just off of the top of my head...

Sure, if the custom made presets are the only thing you are after.

Now this trick didn't work after all, but if it would, and you like to create your own presets with various synths (not only Rob Papen's). Why wouldn't this be useful? This layering feature can be done in other plugins as well, like Kore 2, MetaPlugin and Minihost Modular, for instance. Only because they are useless for you doesn't mean they are useless for everybody.

Prisma is cool, but I would appreciate some plus feature when setting keyboard range for layer:
- setting the keyboard range via midi ...

and this would be nice to have
- visual way of setting the keyboard range : draw coloured horizontal lines across the keyboard's picture
