This may sound like a noob question, but from what I gather from the FL studio manual you have to record automations as an event and then convert it to an automation. I would love to be able to record an automation clip for the XY controller over multiple patterns (in the playlist) , any way to do this?

As far as I know, you can't. Can't see why this haven't been implemented yet, as it would be an excellent workflow enhancement. Right now you have to do one step extra before I can work with the clips directly. This is of course unless both you and I are missing something obvious.

There's the 'convert to automation clip' option in the event editor, but I've never got it to work. YMMV.

Thank you very very much for this important information there is this option I never saw it ^^
By testing it (first make a new pattern e.g. called 'volume automation', click record and select 'notes & automation', klick play and do what you want, stop it, doubleclick on the created pattern in the playlist window, in the popuped event editor window go to menu 'edit' -> 'turn into automation clip', select thresshold & click 'accept') I got a new automation clip in the playlist editor window!

This was a great tip!!! :tu:
