Wondering how/if you're liking it and if you're using it for tracks other than cinematic..

Post

I love it! I will use it for cinematic, ambient, sound design and also some electronica stuff.
I have Gravity with all expansions but this one is the best yet for me.
Fantastic sounds.
I wish it had a few more different phrases/pulses but i damn love it!!

Post

Thanks for reply. Won't Kontakt allow you to import your own samples/phrases/pulses into it?

I have Vocalise which I like quite a bit, especially the ability to adjust sample start, tuning, etc. and the motion sequencers are great.
It looks like SG works the same way as Vocalise.

Maybe I will get SG before 1 week sale is over.

Edit: Listening to demos again not feeling very inspired from what I hear. I prefer creating my own phrases; what I'd really like is just an empty SG engine that I could import my own stuff into and manipulate.

I just use the Kontakt Player, so i can't. I even don't like Kontakt much but there are many great third party libraries.
For sample manipulating i prefer Falcon or Alchemy because they can do much more for me.
But i think there are a few Kontakt instruments (something from Output) which let you load own samples into the engine.

I think it's possible with some but they don't all advertise it.

Heavyocity doesn't allow licence transfer which is a big minus for me, and then there are several rules like: You are not allowed to use single loops or sounds alone, more than XX loops have to play together and so on and so forth. Really messy.

They should just let one buy a package and then you own it and can do with it whatever you want. But with this policy.. I will stay away from heavyocity until they are willing to change to something that fits into 2016.

I didn't know about those rules; thanks for pointing them out. Weird they sell you something to use that you can't use.

You can use them, just follow the rules. I think one of the reasons you can't just use a solo loop without more is that if you create a piece of music with it, and leave entire passages of just a Heavyocity loop without more, if you decide to license your music and then that Heavyocity part gets sampled, you've essentially licensed their sample without permission.

So many plugins, so little time...

This is the problem I have with that. Why is it "their sample"? I bought it. I want to own what I buy and use it then the way I want! No way they tell you how to use things you paid for and you bought for your collection, and then on the top not even support licence transfer.

I know native-instruments has this rule too, which doesn't make it better, but they at least allow you to sell your licence.

99% of the sample libraries or tools and synths which comes with samples has that rule. It's standard.

I looked in the manual to figure out how to sync motion sequencer to host bpm, but I didn't find it and it isn't syncing for me.
Any tips for this?

So is licence transfer.

Then again I read this in another thread by db3: "You can either ask NI to release licences from your account before selling (ideal if you retain the installers for the new owner), or request a licence transfer from one NI account to another after selling and, once complete, the new account holder can access installers."
