Still I wonder what happened with my midi melody while converting it to phrase generator. Why are the notes totally changed and transposed some octaves down like you can see in the screens of my last post ? Are there any preference settings you have to do before converting to melody generator and saving it ? Or is it really like lulukom assumes that only the rhythm of the midi phrase is converted ? But I have different notes

when you first convert midi phrase to generator probably it uses generator's default settings, including note range...
and yes convert process uses only the Rhythm & Velocities not the note pitches or pitch range...as i know.

a tiny one:
when you run RC, Progression Browser always shows all groups expanded and needs "Reset All Browser Options" once,
otherwise collapse button doesn't work.

RC 3.1b7 x64 standalone

and a tiny suggestion:
is it possible to make Expression default value 100 instead of 90?
seems 100 is the original "imported" value when you want to use exact velocities
(currently i am experimenting with piano melodies and velocities really matters in this case)

i would also ok with,
if there is an "ini - config" file exist to modify the default value.

Hi Attila thank you so much all work ok and the speed of testing and find new sequences is increase alot and i can not lost anything, because i get ask if i want store and i can store in this requester. When i want compare if phrase at bars before in song fit good to new phrase help alot. Edit: the Hotkey is too very important when try out phrase Variations i see. there is no gui button, but the hotkey work. so can easy and fast test phrase variations

Hi all
On win 10 x64 i get a very strange problem. when i click on a phrase and i move it, and keep mouse button press, after 5 sec rapid composer do work, as if i release the mouse button. but i still press mouse button. Have other this problem too ?. this happen on my system with all click and hold features in rapid composer only. I have a logitech G300 mouse and i use the logitech gaming software for mouse. I use no special profile for rapid composer

i couldn't understand the question correctly but sounds like you were asking a visual glitch?
while press and holding the mouse, RC windows turns to blank grey ...
its affects only the arrange part of main window here.

Hi lulukom try click and hold left mouse button on phrase on a track. now hold the mouse button down for around 7 sec and move a little. Does it on your system not happen, that before you release the mouse button the phrase is place to a position you not wish ?. maybe its win 10 only problem

Still struggle with the "midi to phrase" function. While for melody I am not really happy with loosing the notes (and I mean especially the relatives of the notes one to another which at least MAKES the melody) but, o.k., better then nothing (sigh...), when you hit "regenerate" you get at least "some" notes (which had nothing to do with the original melody apart from the rhythm).

But I just tried it for other generators, there it wont work at all. I have for example tried a harph and a slow string as arpeggiator, but when you hit regenerate you get only one chord (instead of lets say 3 or 4 in the original midi), so thats really useless (or better lets say I cant think of good use for me). Think I know now what lulukom hat meant a few posts before.

When I saw this I had imagined I could really take my favorite midi melody, accompaniement, bass etc. and turn it to working phrases, but that wont work that way without notes and only rhythm. Is it really impossible to, for example, keep the relativ of the notes/chords one to another or at least anything that makes it a little bit nearer to the original midi ? That would be so great.

Yes, of course I would also like to regenerate the original, but not only the rhythm and then generate a practically new phrases (though with preservation the rhythm). It may be possible to make some kind of freeze the original phrase, so as not to generate a new phrase, but only to regenerate the original!

Struggle on....

I really dont understand. Now I had another midi tune. A 12 string guitar accompaniement. Apart from only being mono (the original has some parts where two or more strings where touched at the same time) evrything is fine. The generated arpeggiator phrase generator HAS notes and is really in a way similiar to the original that I can use it. Why it works for some parts and for others not at all .....drives me a little . Is there any sense in it I just did not get ?

What I understand so far that of course the individual editing possibilities for this special kind of phrase (like the note range for melody) of this special generator must be used. So I now get notes to my bass phrase, but no change (or I did not see) for example for different chord notes for a chord phrase. May it be possible that while generating the phrase the midi phrase will be "scanned" and (as far as possible) the information will be automatically accepted as basis in the phrase generator while saving it ? So as a "simple" example the found note range.

I am afraid this is not possible. This feature preserves the rhythm only and creates notes based on the phrase generator algorithm. In 99.9% of the cases it is impossible to find generator parameters that will create the exact same notes as in your original phrase.
So the shape of the phrase is not preserved.

Hi magicmusic,

this is a known problem on Windows. Mouse dragging should be done in a different way, that is why it locks up after a few seconds, and the program becomes temporarily unresponsive. It is big work to rewrite the logic of mouse dragging, maybe in v4.0...
