Kontakt Multi-Outputs in Cubase Pro 8.5?

It's been so long, I've completely forgotten how to do this.

How do I activate custom Kontakt outputs in Cubase? Say I set up a bass with a custom [Scarbee Pre-Bass] output within Kontakt, how do I activate that output within Cubase? I can post images, if necessary.

What I'm eventually going to be doing is setting up several guitars, each with their own stereo output for use with Amplitube. I want them all to have separate outputs and effect for reasons ( :hihi: ). Unless, of course, there's a way to get that stacked distortion of several amps recorded separately with one instance of Amplitube, but that's another question, altogether.

It's been years since I explored Cubase, and things seem to have changed since (and I was never very proficient at it to begin with), so please be as descriptive as possible.

Thanks!

You need to define outputs in Kontakt's Output panel first, then reload the plugin.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I've done that. I don't see that output in Cubase's options, though (Activate Outputs).

I mean, I can activate St. 2, etc, but not the ones I'm looking for.

Images, to explain better:

Where it says "Scarbe" in the Outputs:

No Scarbee stereo Output, only the standard stereo and mono outputs:

You need to activate plugin outputs 19 and 20, since those outputs are used by the Scarbee output in Kontakt's Output pane...

In all honesty I'd remove the 5.1 channel in Kontakt's Output pane and just add a new stereo out that uses plugin outputs 5/6.

Thanks. I wasn't sure how to do that properly, but what I didn't realize was that the outputs list didn't automatically update and that Kontakt needed to be removed from the VST Instruments bay and replaced.

All is well now. I just wish it could be updated on-th-fly, as in Studio One.

One of my biggest hopes for Kontakt 6 is that they fix the retarded output channel configuration process.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

There's nothing really wrong with it, though (if something's confusing, do tell me, because I'm not seeing anything confusing or "retarded" with it)... there are actions to create all the outputs you need in one go and set it as default (I doubt lots of people need to use a mix of stereo and 5.1 channels, usually it's either all stereo or perhaps mostly stereo and some mono). In any case I would not expect any huge changes in this area as it was already worked upon before (when NI added various batch commands that really are useful a ton).

This is not Kontakt's fault, but rather Cubase's. Steinberg forces you to use VST3 for their "dynamic plugin output assignment" which is very possible in VST2 as demonstrated by a slew of other hosts.

I don't think NI is going on VST3 train though - they would've done it by now if they were interested in spending the manhours to make it happen.

That's what I figured. It did update automatically in S1, which is why it was so confusing to me in Cubase.
