Talked to Reason support. I asked if there will come something like Ableton's clip launch or like Orion daw patterns. Answer i got: that their block is similar. So i fiddle with Reasons block a bit, but thought it was rubbish :ud: (maybe i didn't understand it).
Anyway. I saw that there was some rack extensions that was something like in the direction i was looking for, but not quite there(System 9 Pattern Sequencer). Now... i would LOVE to see some more advanced RE like what Orion daw had incorporated. What do you think? Would it be possible?

Sorry for english.

There's only one thing available like live one choice rack extension https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/ ... er-module/ I couldn't figure it was perfect. The octarex is another logical option for non-midi actually, okay and anything that is for sequencing including korde, arpeggiators which are available, propulsion can also work. Here's how. CV changers but you only get 8 sequence variations. You can also cross variate via pattern change and CV changer combined let me look up the CV changer it's called select CV switch available free. You can set the Reason input quantize to between I think it's 1/64th note or 1 whole note. A 64th is like 64 fractions of a whole note like dividing by 64 for each inputed cc change or note step. It takes time to build on the music world knowledge. I work with syncopation and spatial sense and tonal patterns and perfect sound presets mean nothing to a true musician. Art is not preferred by the farm animals art is the farm animal is art the farm animal it's alarming to know that cuisine is the farm animal is the farm animal at the apex is the apex at the farm animal. IS the farm animal ISN'T the farm animal. Bell. AND y. Stowe make. Skin NY Meat your maker.

Triggering "loops" versus the capabilities of clips in ableton is not the same thing. Let me know if you guys find something that will allow you to record or mouse in midi parts or record audio per clip and Then trigger them into the arrangement.. Completely different IMHO

I'm not sure why it's so hard for someone to get it right

Plugin

Multiple clips with a separate piano roll built into each clip

No limitations on grid lengths i.e. User definable

Drag n drop and copy paste to host functionality

If it doesn't allow you to record midi or audio and mouse in midi notes and only allows you to trigger pre made loops.. It's not even close to clips in live.

Duh

I've seen a number of plugins that claim to do what ableton live clips do and a 100% of the time they are only pre made loop triggers. Boring. I'd really like to see something that is just like ableton clips and even goes further with it.

No theres nothing in reason that can do what ableton clips can, exactly. If thats what youre looking for, theres Live or Bitwig. Reason's blocks are a way to work non-linearly, but theyre more akin to the arranger track feature of other daws than Live's clips. To be honest, for strictly composition purposes the Blocks mode (and other arranger track type features) works better for that in my opinion, but of course, Live's thing is live performance, dj sets and such, and for that you would want to work more with Ableton.

"not sure why it's so hard to get it right" ?

Thats assuming they want to be the same thing to begin with. Live is great (I use both Live and Reason) but why do other daws that are made for different audiences have to adopt the same approach? Logic, Cubase, S1 etc... Arent exactly failures because they also don't have the same functionality.

Because it's a specific function

Post

Yes, but its a specific function that nobody other than Bitwig is even attempting. So you could say that bitwig either does or doesn't do it right, but all other daws aren't trying to develop the feature, so they can't "get it wrong" until they do.

Renoise also has a quite flexible pattern launching thingy. I have no idea how it compares to Live's clips though.

The reason(no pun intended) i would like to see these features is because i kind of like the closed environment of Reason - not an endless choice of plugins. I allso kind of like the graphic interface of Reason instead of the flat approach of Ableton.

Me too. There are a handful of things I'd love to see in reason. I love the racks concept. Visually and for the workflow/functions. I just can't use it exclusively without a few things.
