Hey,

I installed a UAD1 card fairly recently, and have been experiencing pops and crackles in Cubase SX2 since then. I swapped PCI slots a couple times and had no luck.

I am using the following system running XP:

*Ahlon XP 2400+
*Asus A7S333
*512mb RAM (which i did upgrade recently, but the RAM didn't work on my system)
*40gb system drive
*80gb audio drive w/ 8mb cache

In the PCI slots:
*Echo Layla24
*Network Card
*Uad1
*Maxtor G450 video card

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I saw the topic, said to myself 'I bet you he has a Matrox G450', and lo and behold you do. Get rid of the card, and your crackles will go away. I went with a G550 instead, and my crackles went away. Known issue.

Is your graphics card a "Maxtor" or rather a "Matrox" G 450? Assuming it's a "Matrox" G 450, there is a known issue concerning the UAD and Matrox G4xx graphics cards. Please read here:

They are describing a workaround, hope it works for you.
Do you have a solution ... or are you a part of the problem?

Beatcha to it. :P ;) I tried IRQ assignments manually, having the windows shut down, etc. nothing worked. If I never used a UAD1 plugin, I had no crackles though. Swapped out the G450, problem gone though. Then again, the system it came from had a G400, and had no problems. Seems to partially be motherboard dependant too.

Thanks!

Wasn't aware of the problem with Matrox G4xx's.

I didn't mean "Maxtor"

DevonB,
was your problem as described at the site? I get crackles not only at the export/process stage but all the time, and regardless of whether the plugin interface windows are open or not....

I got crackles on export only, no matter what I did. Have you treid removing the UAD1 card and see if the clicks and pops go away?

Or even better, do you have ANY other video card you could try temporarily? Since we know there are known issues, and what I've read with other G450/UAD-1 owners seems to differ, why not change the known problem equasion to see if we have any change?
