I like FSU a lot.

Shred is ok but it makes me think of the guitar world rather than the synth or electronic worlds. I also associate it with douchebag guitar worship which makes me screw my nose up a bit.

Clip - seems pretty basic and describes what's happening internally

Since shred has negative associations with some people I'll leave it alone.

So far I think it's between:

[*] Nuke (My favourite now, this is a known term from the distressor that clips the signal pretty hard)
[*] Hack (like a more severe form of circuit bending)
[*] Clip (not so emotive, kinda plain but accurate)
[*] Ruin (more emotive but a bit cheesy)

I'll post some more audio examples of what the knob will do to different circuits to give you an idea before we all decide what works best.
