Don't know if this has already been posted, but here is what Steinberg is saying about the upcoming Windows XP SP2:
If you are planning to install SP2 on your DAW please make sure to check for eventually known problems with certain hardware and drivers since the first major issue has just been found. According to RME-Audio (www.rme-audio.com) the SP2 installation decreases the bus speed of any Firewire 800 device to 100 Mbit/s. All users of these devices should stay away from SP2 for the time being. RME has already announced a workaround though.

Our software applications like Cubase SX, Nuendo or HALion do not require SP2 but are also not affected by an installation of it. However, as you are doing a huge update of your system (the environment in which Steinberg applications are running) it is recommended to do a backup or image of your system first.

We will update this information as soon as there are new consolidated findings.

At a glance, it looks mostly like a security update with a few other bells and whistles thrown in for networking and wireless. I did see DirectX mentioned, but nothing specific. This isn't going anywhere near my DAW, but is a godsend for my wife's internet PC. Hopefully this will put an end to the pop ups and other crap that constantly invades an internet PC.

SP2 is working like a champ on my box, but I got a USB2 interface, and cakewalk software :P
