Just in case this has slipped unnoticed:
Björk to release new studio album “Medúlla” on August 30th

Collaborators:
• beats - Rahzel, Shlomo and Dokaka

• vocals - Björk, Mike Patton, Robert Wyatt, Gregory Purnhagen, Tagaq, Icelandic + London choirs

• songwriters - Björk, Sjón, Olivier Alary, Tagaq, Jórunn Vidar & Jakobína Sigurdardóttir, e.e. cummings

• programming - Valgeir Sigursson, Mark Bell, Little Miss Specta, Matmos, Jake Davies, Olivier Alary, Björk

My expectations are rather high, I'm still awed by the incredible depth and beauty of Vespertine... I actually feel like a child waiting for Christmas :D

hmm, looks tasty :)

Can someone please fill me in here?

I was a big Bjork fan a few years ago, but then got distracted after Vespertine (I am in AWE of that album - partly why I haven't listened to it much).

Anyway, has She released anything since? I heard of something called "Gling-Glo"... what is it?

Forever,

Kim.

when i hear veserpetine i imagine im lying naked on a bed of fine silk being kissed by a host of angels
but i prefer homogenic  .

No, Kim, Vespertine is her last studio album before this upcoming release.

Gling-Gló is her jazzy album back from 1990, made with some Islandic trio. It's perhaps not a very serious effort, but very Björkish... she sings in islandic on it, so she really gets to strecth her singing skills at times.

Thanks, Pakana.

Vurt, I also love Homogenic... I can never decide which one (Homogenic or Vespertine) I like better. Sometimes it's one, other times it's the other...

Both are simply amazing. :phones:

Forever,

Kim.

I have to say I've never understood the appeal of Bjork, her voice just grates on me. Not trying to flame or anything. Not sure if that adds anything at all to the thread. To each their own eh? :)

I think she has the tendency to copy herself. She's had very good moments but also very terrible ones

stll.. there's no one like her
(must be those volcanic ashes)

People seem to love her work or hate it. Personal taste I guess. For me, her voice mixed with the electronics and strings is just heavenly bliss.

Mind you, there are a few tunes on her first two albums that I just can't stand. :hihi:

Forever,

Yes, her voice does divide people... not that I understand why :)

In any case, Vespertine is a hallmark of modern studio production... imo those glitchy beats and choiry background sceneries put Autechres and Tel Avivs to shame ;)

sounds interesting
sound is vibration, vibration is life
