Making choir samples more synthy?

I just got Roland Integra and I think I will return it because I have most of the sounds already covered by software and Kontakt libraries. What I don't have are some of those slightly synthy sounding / "Enya-esque" evolving or sustained vocal pads that would provide an amazing background for ambient music. I have several choral sample libraries (like Olympus Elements and Giovani Revive) but they sound too realistic for that. How can I transform/process choral samples to make them sound like those Roland vocal pads? Any advice or suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Phaser, vocoder, sampler with unison function? Or resynthesis (Harmor, Loom).

Interesting, i always have the opposite problem. I always wished my synth choirs could sound a bit more real choir like. :D

You should ask this question in the MeldaProduction forum here at KVR. There are at least three Melda FX that come to mind as good possibilities: MMorph, MUnison, and, of course, MVocoder. But I may be overlooking something even more applicable.

You can readily download demo versions of any of these and see if they deliver what you're after.

There are ambient and highly processed vocal libraries out there, but assuming you don't want to spend money on those, you can synthify whatever stuff you have pretty well.

Detune effects, like Superfake, do a good job of synthifying anything. Also, trance gates with mostly dry signal, if you don't mind adding a bit of rhythmic pulse to your pads.

As a different strategy, consider layering with synth synth choirs - the free Scrooo plugin is great for super-synthy aah sounds. Alter/Ego takes multiple instances with different helium and fem factor settings to build a nice choir, but it's also free, and can do a lot more.

Big Tick Angelina is good for making synthy choir sounds.
A well-behaved signature.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

I'd think running a real choir through a granular effect which just chops it in many many little parts and duplicates/fades them all around would even out all the "realness" into a granular padified version.

Precision Sound has some vocal pads that might appeal to you: http://store.precisionsound.net/shop/an ... al-pads-1/
