Look at the Zebra fans
They have been waiting for Zebra 3 since Oct 08 2012

Great that the Komplete 11 fans are not as "crazy" if that is the correct word to use.
Perhaps "realistic" is a better word? We are beter than THEM.
Well, on second thought we the K11 fans are just as bad.
Very impatient, but good to see that others are just as impatient!

Note: I will no longer be a fan Komplete if a worthwhile Kontakt 6 or Absynth 6 is not included in the early September K11 release. Unless there are great new alternatives offered such a Ktrack one or XYSynth one.

To me, GuitarRig is one of the NI products that has aged a lot. What do you think about it?

Yeah, but in three months it will be a full decade since Zebra 2 came out :D

It's worst than I thought.
My deepest condolences to the Zebra fans.

It has. There are so many things I prefer about GR5, but the amp modeling falls short on selection and quality.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Except by interface, I can't see where Kontakt can be enhanced. But Kontakt Factory Library needs an update (and a Vibraphone patch, please).

Interface and browser is the most needed update IMO. As a user, it's the one thing that annoys me the most about Kontakt. I know a lot of designers say they are pretty limited with Kontakt's effects and engine but as I'm not a designer, I can't really elaborate on that. I know Eduardo Tarilonte mentioned the reason a lot of his libraries are using Engine rather than Kontakt is for that very reason. EvilDragon might be able to elaborate more on that end of things.

Interface wise as a user, I absolutely hate Kontakt. It's so counter-productive. The libraries tab is slow, clunky and hard to arrange when you have a ton of libraries in it; I rarely ever use it. Quickload is better but not good at all. It's too easy to bugger something up and then it's gone. Plus, it gets in the way of other menus or replaced by the keyboard view. There is no search function, no user categories/sort functions... overall, Kontakt is rubbish when it comes to interface and searching.

+1000

Let's see how much better the GUI, and Library Interfaces of Kontakt 6 will be.

We still don't even know if Kontakt 6 will be released during this year, or next year ? :dog:

Post

Won't be this year from the looks of things.

Hi EvilDragon,

I had a feeling that's going to be the case.

They must be doing a complete re-write of Kontakt this time around. Which I am all for, and hope to see a completely improved, and very different looking Kontakt 6 next year, (both in terms of the sound engine, GUI and maybe new features).

I think it is really worth the wait.

Thanks for the feedback,

Well, no, a complete rewrite would take MUCH, MUCH LONGER, so they're not doing it as it's not worth the manhours (and important things that are already extremely efficient in Kontakt - DFD streaming, etc. - are really as efficient as they're gonna get, so there's also no need to change anything there. Perhaps only add a separate DFD preload size override per hard drive instead of it being global, which would RULE for mixed SSD/HDD setups...). Some important things are being taken care of, though, but I cannot go into details.

Also I wouldn't expect a very or completely different GUI since that can also have a negative impact on the familiarity and so on... I would say to take a look at how Maschine, Komplete Kontrol and Reaktor 6 look, that is probably the direction in which they're gonna go, to have visual consistency across their product range.

Why people is obssesed with complete rewrites of software? Any known case it really happened and was a success?

And well Kontakt is sampler I really don't know what would need a rewrite. As everyone points out what needs a redesign is the GUI.

If K6 is in development and doesn't ship with K11 and then released by the start of the next year people is going to be pissed off. They should wait.

Probably won't be the start of next year either...

Kontakt 6 will surely benefit from a GUI re-design. It needs it badly !

There is most likely other features and improvements EvilD can't disclose, so maybe this is what is causing the delay in releasing it with K11.

I'm most likely going to see what K11 Ultimate offers, and decide if it is worth upgrading from K9 ultimate , or wait for Kontakt 6 to be released, and then upgrade.

Post

K6 won't be retroactively added to K11/U, though, NI doesn't operate that way.
