Yes, well arranged/produced - although I'm not that deep in the who genre, its just one color in my palette. I guess the Virus vocoder is used among other Virus sounds, and this is the hardware, not Virus PoCo.

Yes, it is Snow. It doesn't have a vocoder but a vowel filter which I used in both tracks, indeed.

If someone is curious, here is a couple of psytrance tracks made almost 100% with Virus.

Very nice. And that comes from someone who doesn't really like Psytrance. :) Seriously, i think you're really gifted, and should send some demos to labels, if you haven't done so.

Btw, a really crazy thought: But would the Virus oscillators, filters and envelopes in an updated Diva be realistic? I know, it's usually an analog modelling synth, but why not do some digital, VA stuff in there? After all, it emulates some of the most popular hardware synths in history, and the Virus is one. Anyway, i doubt that Urs would be interested, or that it would fit in their concept. Shame though.

Edit: Totally forgot that Diva also features the JP-8k oscillator. Well, that's that then. Bring it on! :hihi:

Thanks, that matters a lot, really :) I have some releases, these two tracks should also be released soon I hope.

I think Urs may have the skills and ears to do this, but I doubt he has a motivation. He is obviously not very inspired by trancey/virusy things. I think Urs loves Berlin school and 70-80's synth music and he makes synths which are good for this. His Hive was pretty musch a dissapointment for me, it does fine bread and butter VA but in my opinion is not really good at trance stuff even compared to Sylenth.

Yeah, i guess you're right. And agreed on Hive, good synth i guess, but there was something about the sound i didn't really like. Too metallic and harsh, and the filters weren't really up my alley either. Each to his like.

Personally, I am really really impressed with Hive. But whatever floats your boat and inspires you :)

Not certain but at least facilities and modulation wise Rob Papen Predator might go 1/2 way towards a Virus. Old synth I suppose which may even go in its favour emulating a long in the tooth hardware synth.

3 Osc - 2 multi option filters, plenty of env and mod options, decent "on board" effects. VA/WT/FM etc. Also possible to change OS options and post OS filtering.

Very immediate and forward sound character as well which many Virii owners speak about.

... and Predator 2 is announced for end of September ;-)

From what i remember even the c had cleaner osc than most virus like plugins from few years ago ..filter you will find more analogish on plugs..

The raw osc was clearly not the virus strengh even if on some patchs it can sound great ..but plugs were even worse..like i said all these dark plastic softsynth and virus have shit raw sound specially noticeable on simple patchs where the quality of the synth can t lie

Predator is a nice synth but I wouldn't call it really vrius-like sounding, at least from these demos and others I've heard.

It's thinner, softer, unison sounds a bit "incoherent", distortion is too dirty

Oh, thanks! :)

Well, if these tracks have convinced anyone that Virus is still great, I'm happy

You may well be right on that. I imagine it depends to a degree on what kind of sound you are trying to make also. I thought those Gruff presets sounded quite fat.

I'm judging Predator only from the Youtube demos (there is no better way to estimate the sound quailty, you know :hihi: )

I'll probably download the demo and compare them face to face.
