+2 there. *lends his hearing aid*
Is Sylenth still relevant in 2016?

For olsdchool goa trance Diva does quite a fine job for almost everythingchk071 wrote:For trance or EDM merely the JP-8k osc module will have its uses, i can't really imagine many use cases apart from that. Maybe for bass sounds etc. or leads.

When I was making uplifting trance, I used it for sub and mid basses and also for some leads, in my psytrance works it also finds it place sometimes. I think Diva is a masterpiece. When Urs announced Hive I expected it to be another masterpiece but more in Virus C/JP 8x direction but it turned out to be a disappointment for me. As I've said in another thread, Urs is probably not the biggest EDM lover and perhaps not the right man to code an "EDM synth".
Anyway, Diva is another synth for the OP to consider rather than Hive

On a side note, lot of talented producers here who I am sure could make great sounding music in any genre with just about anything.recursive one wrote:For olsdchool goa trance Diva does quite a fine job for almost everythingchk071 wrote:For trance or EDM merely the JP-8k osc module will have its uses, i can't really imagine many use cases apart from that. That's my impression too. Even when doing a Sylenth1 style EDM/unison synth, they made another "u-he" synth. Which is fair enough of course, but i'm just not the target audience for those, it seems. Bought ACE recently in the Bitwig sale. Good sounding synth, but, the workflow is just not my thing. It may end up on the market place here in a couple of months.recursive one wrote:When Urs announced Hive I expected it to be another masterpiece but more in Virus C/JP 8x direction but it turned out to be a disappointment for me. I used to have both, liked the sound and GUI of Sylenth1 better, but there are several people complaining about problems with the new version. Not sure whether they are doing something wrong or whether there really is a bug in Sylenth1 v3.
In theory Hive should be superior, but somehow I never warmed to it.

Same here, think u he isn't capable to reach out of their usual fan base or their usual fan base is the thing to measure something that should reach masses, Hive showed that yet again, after all that research and all, you can't fake that with people, people need something connect to, not just idea and specs on the paper, which many over here seems to appreciate more than anything.fluffy_little_something wrote:In theory Hive should be superior, but somehow I never warmed to it.

Im thinking there was not enough promotion done to make a big hype like some of synths got. I suppose one of the reasons is that U-He doesnt send out promotional copies to the producers or big names in general.Zexila wrote:Same here, think u he isn't capable to reach out of their usual fan base or their usual fan base is the thing to measure something that should reach masses, Hive showed that yet again, after all that research and all, you can't fake that with people, people need something connect to, not just idea and specs on the paper, which many over here seems to appreciate more than anything.fluffy_little_something wrote:In theory Hive should be superior, but somehow I never warmed to it.
Anyways this is a track ive made in where i used alot of U-He synths. Mostly ive used Bazille for break synth sounds, the leads that comes in Tyrell N6 & Hive. When kicks are in, Tyrell n6 and Massive (if i recall right).

I've seen this on Musicradar "The best 50 VST/AU synth in the world today"... I don't know if it's based on a user poll or because of reviews... higher numbers are better and #50 is the winner)
#39 Hive
#47 Sylenth 1
#50 Synthmaster (only to complete this list)
Not to discuss the details of such polls, yes Sylenth is still relevant for many users. But it's of course a matter of taste and sometimes it depends also a bit of the genre.
I don't like Hive and prefer Sylenth (and Spire).. but this is only my personal taste and so it will not be very helpful

Is not NI Massive a bit the "industry standard" in this genre?AnX wrote:Just look for a synth that has 'deep house' presets/soundbanks

With or without hype, even some people who own Hive (and thus obviously don't care about hypes or the lack thereof) are not really happy with it. It is sold on the marketplace on a regular basis, much more often than Sylenth1 from what I've seen.Elektronisch wrote:Im thinking there was not enough promotion done to make a big hype like some of synths got. When people suggest Sylenth1 is still popular due to hype or promotion, I wonder where that takes place because I am not aware of it. LD seems as absent from the scene as it gets.

To me, sylenth isn't bringing anything 'extra' to the table compared to a couple of other synths. Synthmaster, hive, dune2, spire and even diva are just as, or more relevant to me. Especially considering the price of synthmaster. Just so much synth for a low price.

For sure, but there was hype on internet due to long public beta, but that is where usual geekier fan base of u he resides, Hive is hipsters Sylenth basicallyElektronisch wrote:Im thinking there was not enough promotion done to make a big hype like some of synths got. Sylenth got word of mouth going for him in real world, that's how I found out about it, my favorite artist and good friend was using it and whole that scene basically, it's like Waves in mixing world.
