This here I read as the OP confirms the problem IS there with only a headphone directly plugged into the synth:

only with headphones connected and the noise is still there.
But since analog synths always have background noise to some extent and kids these days aren't used to that at all, I'd like to know how loud it actually is.

well others are reporting their units as being "silent", while others say theirs is noisy. mines is 100 miles away from being silent. so there is definitely a discrepancy. my xone92 is noisy, other mixers i've had have been noisy, i'm not too bothered about it at the moment. i'm pretty sure if i replaced it for another unit, that would be noisy too.

what is bothering me more, is only C5 on the keyboard registers (flashes on the midi out and piano roll) when i press the keys. usually, when i used my JDXI as a midi controller, all keys when pressed on the keyboard would illuminate their corresponding key in the DAW piano roll. i found this very useful. is there a way to get that back?

thanks.
