If I get a big steak and all the trimmings for $1, for sure I will be back, whatever happened before :D
Well, that's you. It's not me. End of discussion.
That was like 4 pages ago, what happened to end discussion. Just cave in and get it. I don't understand how you value your time, spending half an hour to watch youtube vids of it, instead of just buying for a buck

You guys are definitely funny. All this Wagtunes thing is hilarious.

My opinion is: you'll probably have a dollar in PB's Virtual Cash. Get the licence and use it whenever you want. Try it in MuLab and that's it. I don't know, a lot of bad mood here just for a one-dollar synth.
My virtual cash is 1.66 pounds. So I can get this for nothing.

That's what I did. I may use the license someday, or it might get pixel dust forever... :hihi:

Come on guys, just chill... Just make some modular noise with Bazille or ACE... :phones:

Fine. I used my virtual cash. Downloading now. I'll see if it works in MuLab.

But make a system restore point before installation. Or even a full system backup. Just in case :hihi:

Don't worry, I will.

Works in MuLab fine. Will eventually attempt to test in Cubase.

Installation was a snap. Didn't attempt to reinstall PACE. Upon pulling up in MuLab, asked for registration code and from there logged me into iLok and it was a done deal.

Looking forward to HOPEFULLY being able to use this.

Picked it up for virtual cash, although I am also wary of PACE. I have two PCs that I use to make music, so I've only installed PACE on one of them as a precaution. So far I don't seem to have had any issues.

Having played around with Xpand last night and browsing some of the patches, I agree with wag on his summary:
Workstation ... all these sounds that covered everything imaginable. And the sounds were fine. Nothing earth shattering, but all usable stuff.
I haven't had time to go through all the sounds, but found a few pianos and organs I liked, as well as some decent pad stuff. There's a lot of sounds in there that make you go "yeah whatever" as you browse through them. There's a few that grabbed me so that I ended up jamming away for a while, which is always a good thing. So pretty much your standard workstation experience in that regard: a lot of bread and butter sounds and enough meat to get you inspired when noodling.

I do appreciate that what sounds great while jamming away might not end up being what I use when I need a particular sound for a half-finished song. Many of the so-so patches fill a niche and will probably come in useful when I want a particular type of sound. Some of the sounds that sound a bit bland on their own will probably work fine in the context of a full song. Given that the sounds are categorised and take no time to load when switching between patches, you can quickly audition a bunch of related sounds to find the one you want, which is really important for this type of plugin.

I see it as fulfilling a similar role to Dimension Pro: a lightweight bag of tricks that covers most bases and where finding a particular sound is pretty quick and easy. And Xpand definitely sounds a lot better than my 25 year old Yamaha keyboard's built in sounds.

For what was essentially a free plugin (Virtual Cash) I can't complain. Heck, the couple of hours I spent messing around with it last night were probably worth the 1 buck asking price.

Great man!    :hyper:

I wonder why they always include synth sounds in romplers. Would make more sense to include only acoustic and electric instruments and that at a better quality. Typical synth sounds sound better on real synth plugins, anyway. The envelopes in Xpand are a joke, which destroys many synth sounds.

Totally agreeing with you, I never understood that neither.

And acoustic and electrical instruments (like guitars and pianos) sound better on real guitars and pianos.

A rompler like Xpand!2 is a one-stop-shop for the whole sound palette, more geared toward the casual users than the experts.

Workstations are for people who are looking for an all in one solution. They don't want to have multiple synths. They want one thing that will give them everything that they need.

I understand the mindset and the concept from living through this whole thing during my early WS hardware years. At one time, almost every new synth was a WS.

So I get it.

Because Expand isn't just a rompler. To think of it as just a rompler is completely missing the point. Yes access to the parameters is limited but it's still a lot of fun to make more complex sounds using the layers.

Anyway here are 20 or so more Combis to go along with the ones I posted a few pages back. Hopefully someone will find them amusing..........
