ok same as me, the haswell 2.8, 16gb ram.. same OS too, only difference is the radeon vs nvidia here.. It's just that S1 in particular runs *very* poorly on our macbooks, so it's why you need to transform so often. I bet you could do your projects in realtime with logic, or bounce very little. Same with PT.

What's crazy is Cubase 8.5 has the worst performance on my MacBook. My understanding is Pro Tools and Cubase are both affected by the GUI sluggishness issues with ElCapitan.

Studio One v3.2.3 and Ableton Live 9.6 both outperform Cubase 8.5.20 on my machine.

If it weren't for the performance issues, I'd still be working primarily in Cubase 8.5.

For some reason Studio One v3 doesn't seem affected by the issues on El Capitan. Studio One sits in-between Cubase and Ableton Live in terms of workflow for me. Track transform in Studio One has allowed me to transcend the CPU issues and still maintain flexibility offered by MIDI.

Since my main challenge seems to be CPU, Studio One is quickly becoming my primary DAW, especially when using a bunch of CPU heavy plugins. I'm in Ableton Live 9.6 when I'm not in Studio One.

In vst land, I can use many. Live, reaper, tracktion. Can't use studio one or bitwig. Very simple.

It doesn't but If was doing big orchestral stuff along heavy CPU synths ( as diva) I would change to reaper. Without a doubt Reaper is the best DAW when it comes to CPU use by far.

I love Live and I will keep using it but is quite bad CPU wise. But I have considerably reduce my use of CPU heavy synths in favour of more minimalist composition and hardware.
