The kick drum is to bass heavy and is competing with all them synth lines, I'd thin it out for sure.
Thanks shroom. There is much to do on this track. I am posting interim versions as I work on it. Here is the latest. follow me on sc to get notified of updates.

Spire adds a lot if energy to the track - its so silky and punchy.

Just found this on Reveal-Sound's website (didn't know they have a video area now). Funny stuff. :D (and some great sound design)

Just one question!!!!!
How many Spire instances you are using in this demo??? What's your rig configuration man?

Post

It's not my demo, it's just a video which i found on their website. :) You are aware that since version 1.1 Spire has a new sound engine, which uses about 1/3 of what the engine used before version 1.1, right?

Ah I started to hate already :D thought its yours :hihi:
I didn't buy Spire yet, just using their demo, and till now, it is causing glitches when I use more than 5 instances :ud:

What's your computer's specs? I don't have the slightest problems using 5 or more instances here on a Intel Xeon E3-1230v3.

Also, check this out: http://www.reveal-sound.com/knowledge.php?27-30

Well well, it is late 2013 specs. i7 4770k, two SSDs, 16GB memories of 1600 bus speed. Thanks for the tip dude. But I use also Live 9.6 and it doesn't offer such option.

That processor is quite a bit faster than mine. Should do more than 5 instances of Spire. But no idea what could the problem really.

Memories seems.,

I run similar build as phreaque and he should be able to run a TON of instances if they are similarly done as the demo above. I have had close to 20 instances (ok 19 to be exact) in doing a similar type dance demo for a client before and I was just starting to peg my limit.

Wow, nice work! :tu:

Again I'm reminded of why Spire is my all-time favorite vsti - really like the showcasing of the HardFM function with some nice dreamy ambient textures - this synth has the ability to run 'all stops out' while maintaining a warm, sweet sound -

Love it.

When I tried Spire the last 2 times I could not say I liked its sound. I simply listened to the presets and modified some. I switched off the effects and listened to the raw synth.

I found the filter (LP) had some of that attenuation of volume going on when you wack the resonance up and get it to start being extreme. It reminded me of 12 y.o. VST old synth filters that seemed to dip volume for some reason when you start pushing to the extreme. It sounds very polite as low res settings. As opposed to scream and produce wild effects. I tried multiple filter types and styles. Anyone else get that ?

I also felt the overall sound was a little thin and phasey to my ear. A certain unpleasantness that I could not put my finger on like cancellation between L and R channels going on.

I did however find the waveshaping options quite interesting. I bet modulating these could produce some interesting results.

I think I might have to spend some serious time with the synth demo and try and like it. :D I must be wrong given all the love for this synth.

Spire may seem kinda thin on its own but it tends to sound really in place with minum efforts when you put it into mix. Some other synths may sound fatter and bigger but you will strugle to put them into a crowded arrangement.

Try Scoprio filters, they have some serious bang and can scream like crazy, others are more polite, which actually may be good when you are making heavily modulated sounds but don't want ear-piercing resonances.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Combination of Ableton Live known hog with lower buffer and thirsty presets :tu:

Exactly, which is all that matters ultimately. :tu:
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG
