Waves NX / 3D products - Friendly warning to FL Studio users

I am not sure where to post this in KVR so please feel free to move it
I do own some plugins from waves and they all work fine with FL Studio. So I went for the Kickstarter offer and ordered the NX head tracker and NX virtual mixroom from waves. But I could not get it to work so I contacted waves support.
They told me that they don't support FL Studio for these products. It was a total and unexpected surprise for me. The guy from waves also pointed out for me that there is information about it on their NX virtual mixroom website. It is written under Tech specs / Supported hosts. It's well hidden away and not very obvious.
You can call me stupid if you want but I just had no reason to believe these applications would not work with certain DAW's since other stuff from waves work just fine, and the fact that it was not very obvious that some DAW's are not supported.
So with this post I just want to give a friendly warning to other FL Studio users so that you don't waste your money like I did. For other DAW users I suggest you go in and check if your DAW is supported before you buy. It does not mean I hate waves or anything. But I do feel disappointed I can't use these NX apps. And my 170$ are most likely gone for nothing. But perhaps waves are nice enough to help me with that. Let's see.
Cheers!

The head tracker also requires Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, another fact easily overlooked if you don't read the requirements. I almost missed that one, but luckily the bluetooth adapter doesn't cost much... I picked one up for $14 through Amazon.

What can I say
..I guess I been lucky until now. I never had any problems but this is a lesson I learned. From now on I will check every detail and really dig into facts before I buy anything. Non compatibility is something I possibly could expect from DAW creators and their native plugins.
@flugel45, this was also news to me about Bluetooth 4.0
..so I need to get an adapter to then. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Hink!
Waves are actually great and helpful but in this case I picked it up from plugindiscounts store and not from Waves directly so Waves can't help me. I sent a mail to Tony / Plugindiscounts to see if he can do anything for me. If not my last option would be to sell that virtual mix room plug here in KVR.
It's too bad because I live in an appartement. I have studio monitors but I often use headphones for the sake of peace
..so I really wanted this virtual mix room plug.

And best of luck with your house. Hope you have a dedicated space for your home studio, and at least 5km to the nearest neighbor

I agree that the info is definitely not hidden away on the Waves site, it's pretty much easy to see. I also learned a lesson recently about thoroughly checking the specs for plugins, I purchased the Eventide Harmonizer not realizing it required PACE as a licensing manager, I read no iLok dongle required, and just assumed, I use neither iLok or PACE and never will, luckily for me I was able to sell it fairly quickly so it wasn't a total loss.

Does the plugin itself work, and it is just an issue with the head tracker ? You don't need to use the head tracker, I have had the plugin since release and didn't bother with the head tracker when it was released as I wasn't interested, so you may be able to still use the plugin as you intended without the head trackerATN69 wrote:Hi Hink!

Unfortunately it does not work at all. I can't start the application within FL Studio and it does not run as standalone. After that I contacted Waves that told me it's not supported in FL Studio. It's too bad because I really wanted something like this.

The guys at Plugindiscounts where I bought it said they can help me. There are other stuff they have that I want instead. At least I can get something I can use. They take their time but it's okay for me because I think it's nice that they can help me. Waves also offered to help me but since I bought from Plugindiscounts Waves could not do much. But they are also a nice company. Just wanted to mention it because for me a good deal is not only measured by the plugin quality but also by the service and help you getAndy Gone wrote:Too bad
