I got into music production a few months ago. I have produced some progressive house newbie tracks. I have less time per day for music production for some more time, as i have to work too.

I am interested in producing trance music. I found some useful sources like trancemusicmastery.com , where can i find more sources like that ? I use FL Studio 12. How can I progress faster ?

Start with the basics and lern a music instrument first

Use your free time to make music.
To get better at something, you actually have to spend time doing it.

If you don't understand something, look it up or watch a video, but don't expect vidoes to magically inject skill into your veins.

A lot of people will spend a lot of time watching tutorials and stuff, but most of the time these people still spend their time watching tutorials years after they started, at least in my experience.

So, if you want to save time, use that time to advance your skills, it will save you a lot of time in the end.

You can progress faster by practicing more.

If you practice really, really, really hard you'll probably be pretty good in 3-4 years.

My personal advice is to avoid tutorials ad random.
On youtube you'll find a lot of content, but only 20% of it is really reliable.
If I were you I'd invest in some proper course with a professional. Since you don't have much time it better be spent well. Point Blank offers a good trance course albeit expensive. However it is worth it at the end imo. Getting the right information from the very beginning is really important.

Fastest progress in anything is achieved by making mistakes **.

Make mistakes by doing something outside your comfort zone.

You'll f**k up sometimes and go down blind alleys, but other times you could discover something that very few people know about.

The music tools you have are already have are sufficient to make great trance records, push their boundaries (though there's nothing wrong with buying extras as you see fit).
Forget about trance as a genre (it's more than that for starters) - just make music which excites or moves YOU, and your natural musical inclinations will come through.

In addition, study your favorite artists' ideas and 'magpie' their best ones!

** The one caveat to this is when a mistake is fatal

Groove3, macprovideo, lynda.com are good video sites. Watch some tutorials on mixing, if you wanna improve the music it self you need to study music theory.

Yep, that's it... It's about work ethic. If you practice recreationaly then you get recreational results.

Buy ONE (1) synth and learn all the ins and outs of it, ignore all the shiny new plugin threads at KVR or wherever else. If you already have more than one synth, select one and unisntall the others.

I wish someone told me this three years ago
