So what is the use of that if they never update it?

You can´t compare the two, Falcon is not per se a CPU hog, it can be when you start layering different synthesis forms with a high voice count, oversampling for FX engaged or the multi-granular engine with several grain streams at a high voice count or the infamous IRCAM Stretch mode which sounds awesome but kills any CPU, or using several hybrid filters per patch - but with only a few oscillators per patch and reasonable FX it's totally normal on CPU.Numanoid wrote:
If you compare Iris2 to something like UVI Falcon, what is heaviest on the CPU?
Iris 2 on the contrary is always a CPU hog and there are no workarounds other than lowering the polyphony and decreasing the release time (which counts for any soft synth out there).

The version I installed is v2.02.415Sampleconstruct wrote:There was exactly one hotfix for Iris 2 in December 2014 and that was it.
So with one fix I would have thought it was at v2.01 ?

Read my other post again, there was an El Capitain update for Mac users in 2015, but it was only to make Iris 2 work with the new Mac OS.Numanoid wrote:The version I installed is v2.02.415Sampleconstruct wrote:There was exactly one hotfix for Iris 2 in December 2014 and that was it.

Whatever, I guess they update the entire product with a new installer, but why don't you just check with your iZotope user account where you can view the update history of each product. The point is, nothing has changed feature/bug-wise in Iris 2 since version 2.01 released in December 2014. I've had my share of Iris talk for today, over and out.Numanoid wrote:OK, also for Win? Yeah, think I will take a break with it too.
It just crashed FL Studio.
I will think twice before registering the serial ...

I picked it up on a whim on the sale, and I really wish I tried the demo first.
Some patches have a weird ringing sound to them on my system that almost sounds like a ring mod. Switching my ASIO driver changes the sound, but doesn't make it go away. I feel like I'm going to end up putting my copy up on the marketplace for cheap.

On my behalf I found the Iris2 pretty amusing - its one of those plugins where just the creativity (and your time!) sets the limits. Works technically well in my set-up, and the GUI is exeptional.
The total library is huge. BTW, when installing the additional libraries, I noticed that the installers had as a default target folder the same location where the Iris2 plugin 'original' patches/samples located.
Question: does the additional libraries overwrite the 'original' content, and if yes, are 'original' included to the addtional libraries?

After the V2 update I could never worked as seamless as with the V1 version. For me Izotope partly ruined the whole thing. My biggest complain ist the software doesn't remember window positions and size. Everytime I recall a preset it defaults to a tiny window and default placement. I bought a lot of Izotope software and this one always makes me angry.

I have a problem with the master cut off button, it doesn't respond evenly to the learnt knob.
When midi learnt, the GUI button is at 12 O'clock while the midi learnt knob is at like 8 o'clock. So fine controlling cutoff for 6 to 12 o'clock is darn hard when the space on the learnt knob only is 6-8.

That's due to the very exponential scaling of the Iris controls.Numanoid wrote:I have a problem with the master cut off button, it doesn't respond evenly to the learnt knob.

Just for the records:
I found another Iris 2 bug today while converting some of my Iris 1 patches to v2, trying to modulate Chorus depth (not mix) with a Macro doesn't work, the knob modulation indicator is actually moving when tuning the Macro but the sound doesn't change -> on the list of bugs never to be fixed... *sigh*
