These are in between, because they wrap around the ear they don't need to be wedged in as tightly as my previous pair to be held in place and don't fall out.masterhiggins wrote: Most earbuds are uncomfortable for me though. It seems like they're designed to be wedged in there hard to maintain grip as opposed to more contoured earbuds, that rest in your ears instead.

Which tips do you prefer? I was surprised to find that my cheap Panasonic earbuds actually block noise better with their stock silicon tips than with Comply foam tips, which is totally different from my experience with Shure in-ears.aMUSEd wrote:https://www.rha-audio.com/ca/ma750i.html

We're overstocked with KNS-8400's and I can sell them for about 40% off.Blue Phase Music wrote:Would you trust them for *mixing* over, say, KRK KNS-8400 headphones? That's what I used to have, and am thinking of getting again.

That's great to hear! Thanks. I'll definitely do some more looking tonight. Also, the sturdiness thing is often overlooked on headphones. Nice to see the build quality's a step up. My bose's wires are incredibly thin and I'm shocked they haven't broken down or started getting noisy after 2 years.aMUSEd wrote:These are in between, because they wrap around the ear they don't need to be wedged in as tightly as my previous pair to be held in place and don't fall out.masterhiggins wrote: Most earbuds are uncomfortable for me though. I used e4's for a long time and loved them but they kept breaking. Shure is a great company and they sent me free replacements every time but, after the fourth time, I finally got to the point that I felt bad asking them again. Now I'm using the cheap SE215's and they sound pretty much the same as those old e4's, plus they're completely modular so I don't need to ask Shure for help when things break.Blue Phase Music wrote:I was looking at the Shures. Not sure I'd ever spend a grand for their highest-end pair.

Not tried them all, at the moment the memory foam ones are in and they seem to block noise well and to be pretty comfy. The baffle type go further into the ear but I'm trying to avoid that.Uncle E wrote:Which tips do you prefer? The noise canceling Bose's are unbeatable. On flights, I used to put my Shure e4's in my ears and then wear full sized active noise canceling headphones over them. Now I get the same performance from just the Bose's and it's a lot more comfortable for sleeping.masterhiggins wrote:When I work out I like my good ol' pair of Bose IE2.

This may be the first time I've heard someone who actually knows anything about audio recommend a Bose product.
The few of them I have tried in stores, I just didn't like the sound and they seemed way overpriced. Better than Beats by Dre, but that's not saying a lot.

I got my pair for $15 because of a coupon system glitch on Musiciansfriend. lol.foosnark wrote:This may be the first time I've heard someone who actually knows anything about audio recommend a Bose product. The few of them I have tried in stores, I just didn't like the sound and they seemed way overpriced. Believe me, I would only ever recommend them for traveling.
Yes, crazy overpriced! But the noise cancelation is better than anything else I've used and they're super comfortable to wear. The few of them I have tried in stores, I just didn't like the sound and they seemed way overpriced.

Sorry for the late reply...I stopped getting notifications for this thread, for some reason.Uncle E wrote:We're overstocked with KNS-8400's and I can sell them for about 40% off.Blue Phase Music wrote:Would you trust them for *mixing* over, say, KRK KNS-8400 headphones? I'll have to check my finances after getting paid. Things are pretty tight at the moment, but I do need a decent pair of headphones, and I liked them when I had them some time ago.

Not something you want to hear when finances are tight, but using sonarworks headphone plugin with the 8400's is an absolute revelation. Aside from the positives regarding tracking and mixing (especially over longer sessions), I can now use these cans while listening for enjoyment (after sonarwork's correction, they respond great to eq'ing. Add some much needed sub, and a little 'air', and they really 'sing'Blue Phase Music wrote:Sorry for the late reply...I stopped getting notifications for this thread, for some reason.Uncle E wrote:We're overstocked with KNS-8400's and I can sell them for about 40% off.Blue Phase Music wrote:Would you trust them for *mixing* over, say, KRK KNS-8400 headphones? For some reason, I thought it was Mac-only. I'm glad to see it's cross-platform!
