Guys, i'm a long time Cubase user but i'm sick of their attitude lately and so I started to look around for alternatives. And I must say that what the new Studio One DAW seem to offer is just jaw dropping.
But having seen a lot of marketing b**t, I'm still slightly suspicious. Are there any drawbacks to expect when switching to Studio One Professional from Cubase? (And I should add, that I'm still on 5.5 PC)

i tried to ditch Cubase for Studio One.
I'm back with Cubase now.
I use 6.5, it does what i need it for. Best midi editing, and i like the floating windows, it means i can place anything i want anywhere i want. I'm sure Studio One has progressed nicely though, demo it, the midi editing isn't too bad, better than Live !!!
If your DAW works, you don't need to upgrade and shit. Just use it, who cares what the rest of the universe is doing, unless you're a giant studio with snooty clients and the rest of it.
[edit] by the way, Steinberg suck, and will always suck, but just try to write music and forget about the company

I'll ask two relevant questions because people rarely ever do before they offer opinions...
1. What kind of work are you doing? Mostly midi? Mostly audio?
2. What, if anything feature wise, in Cubase can you subjectively not live without?
My answer on how you might feel about that change would be highly dependent on the answers to those questions since I have no idea how or what you mostly use Cubase for.

In my experience, compared to other DAWs, Studio One isn't one I would market as "extremely performant", even from the point of view of unloading plugins. Doing large projects, Studio One would take its sweet time unloading everything, hah.
It's a great environment to work in, for many. Just be sure it's for you, too. This of course applies to everything

Yea this is sad. On the off chance the question is legit....NO. Cubase is fanstastic. I uninstalled StudioOne after three hours of desperately trying to do what took me mere minutes in Cubase. No DAW is perfect or complete in itself. But side-by-side, Cubase all day.

Use whatever works the best for you. Skip what people think.
I use FL studio and I hate how audio in records and get put everywhere on the playlist, but I used it for so long, I don't even want to touch another daw. Beside that I can mix to fast on the mixer.

Thanks for all your answers! That tells my a lot really. It seems that it's all not so rosy with S1, so I'll stick to Cubase for now and maybe even update it to 8.5. Answering some of your questions: I'm doing mostly bedroom-production of complete computer based music with some live instruments and vocals. Also producing for stocks and ad industry. From the background I'm a pianist and I still tend to work in the classical 'sequencer' manner. This means for example that Ableton is not for me
