Attempting to use the Structure to set up a song in Ver 3.02 64 bit.

This has got to be the most frustrating thing. Not only do the lines jump around when I'm trying to add, (I click on the line to get the +/- and it jumps to the prior section. Really annoying) but the whole thing crashes after I have about 5 parts in.

Hopefully this can be fixed. Otherwise, I will just go back to doing parts at a time. Which actually isn't a bad way to go as each part will match.

Ah! Looks like a missed an update. It seems to be working in v3.04. I thought I checked. Guess not.

I too find the jumping of notes distracting. I know it adjusts the zoom level and moves the notes to the fitting note like with a magnet tool. But I'd rather scroll and zoom myself than have difficulties placing the parts because everything jumps around.

I also encountered a bug several times when moving generators or fixed parts. Especially the bass line in this test project of mine has problems. When I move a part, the whole bass track suddenly is gray. Then when moving more, it appears again. Sometimes notes in the bass track just disappear and you cannot see them. Editing this way is impossible

I have to save the project, close Rapid Composer, and open it again, then most of the time notes appear again. Until after a few minutes of editing, same thing happens. This happens in 3.04 and 3.1 beta10, so in all the latest versions.

This is weird, thank you for reporting!
The notes are there, just the zoom changes in the bass track. I try to reproduce it by setting up a similar composition.

I can also send you my project if you like. Because I don't know what's causing this. I tried reproducing with a fresh project and it didn't work all the time. Maybe it has to do with part variations or something that accumulates over time when working with a project. Let me know, I can upload it to you or send it via email.

Thanks for the fix in Beta12! Bass now behaves nicely. I found other bugs for you though

I cannot open RC files by double clicking. RC spits out an error message. Only when opening through the music menu it works.

Scrolling with the mouse wheel works in tracks, but not for the project window. I cannot scroll tracks up and down as I would assume. I need to drag the scrollbar on the right. It would be nice if I could use the mouse wheel once I'm out of a track and in an empty sections of the project window.

When playing, I always modify things to see how they sound on the fly. But any little change I do in RC lets all MIDI notes hang all the time. Even when I only move the Expression slider on the left in the track, notes start to hang. It would be nice if I could modify values and move parts up and down without having to stop first or notes hang. Right now, the panic button is my best friend. I always have to push it.

PS: For some reason KVR Forums don't embed a video file and only play audio instead. You have to copy and paste the URL to watch the video. Sorry about that. Is there any way I can embed a video file? Does anybody know?

Hi Attila,
I think I found a small bug with the master track. When I start a new composition I always get 16/X, shouldn't it be 4/X? Can I change that somewhere? (But that's not the bug, only a minor thing)
When I now change it manually, the master track does not update immediately and automatically. I have to grab and drag the handle at the very right side to have it updated.

Hi Max,

yes, the master track did not update, this was fixed today.
For new compositions you can set the default 'beats per bar' value under Settings / Miscellaneous. Look for "New Composition", "Default Beats Per Bar".

Hi Chris,

double-clicking on an .rcCOMP file works now. It will open the composition as expected from a well-behaving app (both on OS X and Windows).
I'll fix the other issues shortly. The hanging note bug is really annoying but not easy to fix.

In the Phrase Editor, the undo function seems to be a bit too aggressive sometimes.

For example, If I create a simple phrase; lasso select all of the notes; press ctrl+c to copy to clipboard; move the cursor forward; press ctrl+v to paste from clipboard; move the cursor forward; press ctrl+v to paste from clipboard; move the cursor forward; press ctrl+v to paste from clipboard; press ctrl+z to undo...

The result is the phrase is returned back to the moment after the penultimate note was created, just before the last note was created and then followed by the lasso select. [please see animated gif below]

What I expect, is the undo should return the phrase back to the moment before the last paste from clipboard.

It seems as if the clipboard operations were left out of the undo stack.

I expect to see a total of four copies of the phrase (the original plus three copies). Instead, I see the original and just one copy, because the paste from clipboard has stopped working after the first paste. [please see video demonstration below]

Usually at this point, the cut & paste from clipboard functionality degrades (pasting into the phrase stops working altogether).

I have verified that this problem starts happening after the play button has been clicked.
