But a year ago i had to tape and repair my syncrosoft key because it just felt apart when i took it out off the usb port.
Not sure how much longer my key will work so i ordered a Blofeld that will arrive today.
So why not transfer the license to a new elicenser USB key using the eLicenser software?

Of course it is nice to hear you get a Blofeld now. :)

You can buy another eLicenser key and move the licenses from the old one to the new one, since it's still working (it can be done using the eLicenser Control Center, there are no other requirements).
I did that a few years ago, because my old key was in a bad condition (I had to tape it, too) and I didn't feel safe at leaving my Cubase license in a dongle in such conditions... even though it still works fine (a few years later I put an entry level Cubase license on it, which was bundled with an hardware device I bought). The build quality of those eLicenser keys is not that good, the case breaks easily (the new one is missing part of the keychain hole), but the electronics work fine, I never had a problem. iLok have a way better build quality.

If the dongle is directly connected to the pc, I would suggest a usb extension cable for the dongle (when it's possible), so it's further protected from the heat generated by the pc.

Sorry for the o.t.

And congrats for your new Blofeld.

+1 on the eLicenser quality... i have no idea why a 20 € plus key which holds hundreds, maybe thousands of € worth of licenses, has to be of quality worse than any USB stick which you can buy for 5 € these days.

Interesting replies btw. Going by the article i linked, and other voices on the net, i thought Largo and Blofeld were pretty much sounding the same. Interesting that some find that Blofeld sounds better. Could the reason be that the bass boost thingie is active by default on Blofeld, while on Largo, you have to activate it? On Largo, it makes a big difference, because it attenuates the lower frequencies strongly. As far as i read, there's not even a bass boost switch on Blofeld, but it's active by default.

Thanks :)
Looking forward to when the Blofeld Arrives.
Didn't know i could transfer it from one key too another so i guess i will do that soon :tu:

One thing that suggested to me that there were basic sonic differences between the Blofled and Largo is that, with the Blofeld, a large portion of the 1,000 factory presets were actually MicroQ sounds transferred over. I had a mQ at the same time I had a Blofeld, and the transferred patches sounded almost identical between those two. Had Waldorf transferred mQ patches over to Largo as well, it would have considerably increased its initial set of presets. The fact that they didn't made me think that perhaps there are enough differences in the overall sound of the engines that mQ patches would not translate as well to Largo as they did to the Blofeld.

:hihi: Kind of a fun picture -

Anyway: several years ago, one of my steinberg keys started to fall apart, so I bought some glue for bonding polystyrene at my local Home Depot & used it on the keys' housing -

It's stayed together, and works fine!

Works fine here with Sellotape. :) The edges of the 2 plastic caps get stressed though every time i plug it in and out... small pieces of plastic are already broken out. It really puzzles me that they didn't build it with a bit more care. I mean, i've had 6 or 7 USB sticks since the introduction of those, and none showed such a lack of stability, and they were all really cheap.

What I did was cover the damn thing with glue - to the point that it looks like it has some weird 2nd skin on it - I'll bet that you could practically stand on it before it fails.

It's pretty ugly, though :D

What are you doing here? You are not supposed to reply to the VS threads, you previously mentioned in the Icarus thread that those kind of threads are pointless...

What a pointless reply of yours.

Of course as a long time Beta tester and sound designer for Waldorf (since 2010) and owning both Largo and Blofeld since long time (Largo since it was released in 2009, Blofeld shortly after) i try to be helpful in such Waldorf related threads.
FWIW recently I was also involved with the NKS updates for the Waldorf plugins.

Besides that in this thread it is about two products from the same developer while one is software and one is hardware. This is hardly the same as in many other Synth X vs Syntht Y threads...

I guess he meant a master control that works indpenedent of the layers (like that you just mentioned). A global volume for all layers indeed does not seem to exist.

Yeah, those seem like individual level controls for each filter output.

Big miis by Waldorf not yo include a master volumen control.

Well, it's a master volume per layer. Each filter has a separate output control, as you can see in the pic (actually, my bad talking of a "pan" control, in fact it's the filter output control, AND the pan control). But, as Ingonator wrote, if you're looking for a master volume control for all layers, there is none.
