Saving Automation Clips In FL-Studio 12

Here's my dilemma.
You know how you can just drag stuff out of other DAWs and save it for later recall after you've either rendered it, or resampled it, and are using the recorded audio files so as to save resources particularly when using CPU intensive plugins? Well, I get the whole "save channel state" and "save scores" thing, but is there any way to save an automation clip and import it back into the project where it actually works as it did before I saved it? I would like to be able to recall those as well. I actually was able to save the automation clip by using the "save channel state" function, but when I brought it back into the project, it did not connect to what I had it automating before I saved it. Is there any way to make the saved automation clip automate the intended target as it did before I saved it?

if you are trying to save the automation clip and then have it link with the parameter it was linked with before this may help, although i am sure there are better solutions. what i do is once i have the automation clip as i want i save the channel state sop it then appears in the browser. then if i want to bring it back into the project and have it linked to the parameter i chose before, i drag the clip onto the channel in the channel rack, if i just drop it elsewhere it will no longer affect the parameters i want it to.
i have never really though about this before so maybe i am wrong and someone has a better method. i tend to use the project bones export so that all elements of the project are saved for reuse, midi clips , patterns, controllers etc..
hth a little

Thank you so much man. I'm just so confused as to how this can be accomplished being that there is nothing that explains all of this. I'm having a hell of a time trying to get a solid workflow going in FL. I'll keep chipping away at this. I've got to admit, this has to be one of the most convoluted DAWs I've ever used. (For me anyway) I've also noticed that there are millions of so called tutorials on YouTube, but not one actually give any type of workflow help. SeamlessR is pretty informative though, but he just flies through whatever it is he's showing you, so it's pretty difficult to learn from those videos also. Thanks again.inkwarp wrote:if you are trying to save the automation clip and then have it link with the parameter it was linked with before this may help, although i am sure there are better solutions. what i do is once i have the automation clip as i want i save the channel state sop it then appears in the browser. then if i want to bring it back into the project and have it linked to the parameter i chose before, i drag the clip onto the channel in the channel rack, if i just drop it elsewhere it will no longer affect the parameters i want it to.

no worries.
i know what you mean about getting your head around it, i almost gave up on it twice but i am glad i stuck with it now... once you know the shortcuts and get them ingrained in your mind, you'll be flying through it. there are a lot of tutorials on youtube etc. but i find the application's own help is adequate in most cases and it is 'context sensitive' which means if you hit F1 the help opens in the corresponding page. again, you may know about that but i didn't for a while..
apart from seamlessR i would also recommend this guy in case you haven't heard of him: .
he is very clear and informative. i have learned a lot from this guy. ( he also has quite a dry sense of humour).

I've given up about 478,569 times.inkwarp wrote:no worries.

That's why I keep coming back to it. I know how awesome it's potential is, and it's blasting with flavor.inkwarp wrote:but i am glad i stuck with it now...
That's what I'm hoping will happen one of these eons.inkwarp wrote:once you know the shortcuts and get them ingrained in your mind, you'll be flying through it.
It's good for informing me of "what does what", but I get 0 out of it for workflow. It just looks like a bunch of shortcuts and icons all over the place to me.inkwarp wrote:...but i find the application's own help is adequate in most cases...
I've learned from him to, but this is a secret between me and you, his voice soothes me to sleep every time I watch those tutorials. I don't know why, but it does.inkwarp wrote:I would also recommend this guy in case you haven't heard of him: .

Thanks for you help and your suggestions. I will try to keep trying to form a workflow of some sort.
