Hi guys,

Here's the link: http://samplefocus.com

It's still currently beta but you can sign up for an account in this google form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1YaPd3a ... s/viewform

Essentially the concept is to use the best possible tagging tools to create the world's most organized sound library. I initially created it to solve my own problem of having heaps of disorganized samples in nested upon nested folders. I hope it can server the music production community well, and I would love any feedback you may have. New samples and features to the website are added daily and I'm more than happy to accommodate any requests.

Oh and its free to use!

What licenses are the samples under? I know Freesound is careful to list CC or PD for each sample and I think they curate at least some. This looks like it has the potential to be a massive unlicensed sample site.

Your site looks really cool. :tu: That being said. THIS:

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Thanks, I just browsed it.

Yes, looks nice in general.
Feedback...
No possibility to preview samples directly from search results (before actually downloading), as for example http://www.freesound.org does it ?

Or maybe I missed it or it wil come later on ? (edit: Or maybe not available without signing up, which I didn't yet)
That would be a feature quite essential to me (to speed up the process finding the right sample(s)).

All the samples are certified by the uploaders to be their own. I've made the licensing agreement more apparent and now all samples show a link to the license.

As far as preview, you can indeed preview just hover over the samples with your mouse :)

Would love to hear more of the KVR community's feedback now that these questions are cleared up!

i just saw this and haven't checked out the site yet, but you should probably have a mechanism for reporting suspected violations of terms. Otherwise this could easily grow to be something you don't want to deal with, because, you know, its the uploader's problem. Until it isn't.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Visually, I quite like the site. However, your blog page doesn't load properly in Chrome. I don't seem to be able to embed images here (low post count perhaps) but you can see for yourself:

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Should be fixed now!

As far as flagging samples @deastman thats a feature that will definitely need to be implemented soon.

From an web developement perspective, this is quite a nice project.

I wonder: what are the advantages over something like Freesounds.org, which is already established and also has transparent licensing (all sounds are free, but the sounds use different license models such as "public domain" and "creative commons" licensing)? I wouldn't like to use sounds of dubious origin.

Also, you might want to take a look at the Converse Rubber Tracks Sample library which has very unique concept and a very innovative interface.

I've always found Freesound's interface and other website's like it to be awful to use. The speed at to which you can find what you are looking for is the primary differentiator between other sites like it IMO.

Looks cool! I like it.

I was surprised to see you are not using Web Audio, but I guess SoundManager makes sense if you want to get to IE users (it does support some of the IE browsers, I presume).

Good luck.

:dog: Totally missed this.
Nice, thanks for clarifying.

Just wanted to let you guys know I've opened up the beta! That means anyone can now sign up instantly - for free of course.

I also just redesigned the profile page so now you can upload a fancy new avatar that will show up next to all the sounds you upload. Hoping to add even more social features soon! Again, any all feedback is greatly appreciated
