1 - Max Richter - Sleep (8 hr) (end of 2015, sorry)
2 - Steve Roach - Vortex Immersion Zone (damn!, again 2015)
3 - Brian Eno - The Ship
I measure everything else this yr against these three.

Steve Roach & Robert Logan – Biosonic
That stuff is lethal like hardcore ambience, it could take over your life, I had to delete it from my device, was listening too much to it

Checking out the newly added music above.
Some of it more 'home grown' then pro releases, but that's cool in moderation I think.
See...I'll do it myself;
The 'Ambient Online Compilation: volume 6' is remarkably good for home produced music, I highly recommend it.
https://ambientonline.bandcamp.com/albu ... n-volume-6
I listen to sometimes sections of 4 or 5 live ambient/chill multi hour radio shows each week. I hear a lot of so-so music but also some pretty cool music. I'll try to find some of that and also see if the full CD/whatever, is also consistently good, then pass that on in this thread.
I would like it to be all 2016, but I know that would be too difficult to sort out even if there was that much quality music put out this year.

@Numanoid.
Have you listened to those picks in their entirety, and claim most tracks to be consistently very good?
I have heard a few tracks on the radio, but need to hear more in order to see them fall into a best of category.
EDIT - wonderful, he has a full album preview page!
http://www.jeffreykoepper.com/music.html
EDIT - Ah, and same for Wollo/Metcalf

Yeah, same page I found. Excellent that he makes almost 2 hours of music available for free, to check outannode wrote:EDIT - wonderful, he has a full album preview page!![]()

However, after some heavy listening, I will have to retract my vote, based on the three preview track that new album is too minimal for my liking.

Yes, I used the http://www.jeffreykoepper.com link you posted, but then saw he had a music page, so i posted that.
I`m trying to make some sense of why it's not easier to find new, very consistently good ambient electronica(or acoustical such as much of the Richter-Sleep).
Aside from the above "Steve Roach & Robert Logan – Biosonic" where only 3 short tracks are for preview,https://projektrecords.bandcamp.com/album/biosonic and I can't really make a judgement on only 3 short tracks. I can't find any 2016 music that doesn't sound like someone has just fallen asleep on the keyboard. Or the last two 2016 Robert Rich releases are not very interesting and groups of short tracks. What's up with these shorter tracks?
That's sorta why I started this thread, I was hoping to get responses from many more people who own full albums or have previewed more music at these many virtual distribution sites then I possibly could .
My favorite live radio show;
- 'Into the Deep' - WEVL FM 89.9 Memphis, TN.
Monday night 9:00pm - 1:00am (EST)
!st 2 hrs = chillout w/beats. 2nd 2 hrs = straight ambient.
http://peace.str3am.com:6030/listen.pls
https://www.facebook.com/Into-the-Deep-108631969164684/
This show unfortunately doesn't make a playlist to follow,so it's difficult to go about finding what you heard and if it's a new release. I just have to hunt through the 4 hours I recorded and if I like something, i.d. what it is, then find the album and hope that I can preview the whole album or most of it...Bandcamp or Youtube. Who has the time for this? haha
I'm just running my mouth, it's really not all that important to me ya know.
I'm just looking for very good ambient electronica. It's not so abundant like it was in the `90s and 2000s I guess.

That album needs to be on the shopping list of any hardcore ambient fan.annode wrote:Aside from the above "Steve Roach & Robert Logan – Biosonic" where only 3 short tracks are for preview,https://projektrecords.bandcamp.com/album/biosonic and I can't really make a judgement on only 3 short tracks.
There is a sale on the CDs now: http://www.projekt.com/store/product/pro00326/

Thanks for the info on that Numanoid.
To quote Jerry Lee Lewis "There's a whole lotta shaken going on!" And from the 3 tracks i've heard, it's way too much for my ambient taste.
