Yeah, I know.

Not knowing too much about it, my preconception reading about it from earlier has been that it has been freeware.

$46 for the Windows version is anyhow not a bad deal, it puts it in same price category as Tracktion or Reaper.

The price is actually whatever you determine it to be. But if you pay $64 for it, then myself and other developers will thank you and continue our hard work to make it an ever-better program, for everyone.

Not for the Windows version, as the single payment for the "ready to run" and supported version must be higher than $45 to get v5.0 according to the webpage:
Single Payment:If you choose to pay less than US$45, you will get the current version and updates (e.g. buy version 4.7, get access to 4.8, 4.9, etc. but not 5.0).

5.0 is the current version.

So you would get 5.0 if you payed less than $45.

Well, that is not quite clear seeing what is stated at the webpage at this time. It would be good if they could update it to avoid confusion:

If paying less than $45 will get v5.0 and get access to v5.1, v5.2, etc but not v6.0 (or is that v5.3)?

"Single Payment:If you choose to pay less than US$45, you will get the current version and updates"...

It's pretty clear.

I suppose they should update the example, but it's quite clear.

When it is explicitly stated that one will not get v5.0, it is as clear as mud to my eyes

It is explicitly stated that (for example) if you buy 4.7 then X happens.

You are not buying 4.7 are you? Why are we even talking in this thread... hint: it's not because of 4.7.

Why can't Ardour just update the sale listings to avoid confusions, instead of you having to play "logics" game for 'em :hihi:

Because there's one guy updating the web site, who is also the lead developer who is also me.

It is done now.

Excellent, then there are no uncertanties about what version a user will get when buying :tu:

So it's $46 for lifetime updates? That seems fair enough.

Btw, there's one thing i didn't get yet. Is there native VST support on Ardour for Windows, or is it some kind of wrapper, which possible won't run some VST's? I know that Vestige in LMMS does not, for example.

I've heard A5 is a big improvement,
so I'll try a nightly build, hoping for the best. For linux users,
it's always gonna be hard to beat reaper in wine,
for working on small projects that include windows vsts.
Hopefully A5/Mixbus duo will be great for larger projects.

With reaper there is only the demo, and two prices, no drama.
You might want the marketing folk(s) to simplify things.
There's no money in needless distractions...

And welcome to the cyber-moshpit labelled loosely as a forum.
Knowledge over rumours, any day!
Hey, look, it's almost Monday...
Cheers

It is an example, for crying out loud. Don't tell us you don't know what "e.g." stands for.

I bet if he'd been using 1.x as the example, you'd have found it clearer...

Good point.

I find the Ardour payment platform rather confusing now.

Simplification would be a benefit.
