This is really great work from a company that is a solid as shit, no word from the company, no fixes that work, when are software companies going to realize they are getting iFukd up the ass?

That shit don't work at all and the newest is probably already on torrent sites and us paying customers are screwed while the crack users are laughing still using their stolen copies..................

Still see no reason to screw any dev for this.
Zynaptiq in turn is on the case but this look pretty complicated to say the least.

HDD version - no dongle.

Adaptiverb authorized and ran fine, but my other authorizations failed until I de-activated and re-activated them.
Hm... it looks like three possible triggers in this case:

1) License Manager v3.0.3.1468, though we already read so far that an update of that didn't "corrupt" licenses, then again the USB key solution runs fine, the HDD one not
2) the Win10 Anniversary update, though this messed up behavior also happens on both Win and Mac and the latter had no maintenance update to my knowledge
3) ADAPTIVERB's installation and license code activation (either demo or full version) - the devs are on this issue -- then again, I've also read things about happening with AiR Music Technology tools

From this alone (and from other reports), I'd say it's either the manager's HDD authorization or ADAPTIVERB's release. The only people that can give further confirmation, are Zynaptic and/or PACE. Though the latter sadly barely talk to the "regular world".

arachnaut wrote:However, it is still a feature I would try to avoid as much as possible. It is the only copy protection approach I've had any trouble with. I heard stories from my friends that make me very distrustful of it's quality.

The error messages it posts are about as helpful as a random number generator. The company hides behind an obfuscated web site. The software and service is still 32-bit based.
Keep in mind, you also use Windows 10, whose error messages are worse than what you've seen with VISTA.

I mean, this screenshot doesn't come from nowhere:

Else regarding the service and software running still on 32bit... well... my DAC tools are on 32bit still as well. Doesn't slow me down. However I do agree that the website is really obfuscated and scarce in terms of information. Always was.

Else, the USB key was always rock solid for me (even v1), though we should better not touch the "second hand license" topic - this is nightmare fuel material

Done! We all should do this, you're right.
And write to all affected developers, as instructed by the error message.
This may get developers to rethink their DRM strategy and at least demand more communication from PACE about this iLok debacle.

Note: El Capitan, iLok 3.03.552, AIR, Eventide and Soundtoys activations lost on HD.
Forgot to add: no Adaptiverb at all, or any other installations for that matter. So it appears Zynaptiq is not to blame.

So what did you do to trigger it?

Last thing I did was deactivate Eventide UltraChannel from one location and activate it on another. That, and I changed my password. Next all hell broke loose.

So no iLok driver update?

Is .522 the latest for Mac?

Nope, no update. And it's the latest one, according to "Check for updates".

Softube have posted on Facebook/Twitter they are also 'aware' of issues with iLok and are working with them.

Post

I just got a reply from iLok support.
They told me I need to go to there website and file a support request... Which is what I did in the first place! I know some people love iLok but this is bad service.

Post

Gotta love this iLok drama. Slate was sending out e-mails the other day that they are still (a week later) trying to fix iLok issues and now this happens. I'm sure people who got their licences screwed up because of Slate appreciate this new adventure of all the licences becoming inactive again. You can't make it up.

And Compyfox still trying to make Pace look good. It's hysterical! :hihi:

Hope this will teach developers a lesson to look into something that u-he is using or Camel Audio was using when it still existed.

For me this is not a speed issue, it is a statement of a piece of software's internal structure and the development team's capabilities.

64-bit kernels have been out forever (well, since Windows XP 64 or thereabouts), and Sonar - the DAW I use - has been 64-bit for a very long time.

Many, if not most pieces of software I install come with 32 and 64 bit versions.

You might think that in a perfect world, all one need do is change a compiler flag and out comes 64-bits or 32-bits or both.

In reality, most of the current software that originates a while back was probably developed only with 32-bits in mind. Developers probably used lots of pointer arithmetic in C. Pointers and Ints are different in 32-bit and 64-bit computer models.

The end result is the 32-bit stuff works, but the 64-bit compiled output is a mess. And no one want to clean things up for fear of breaking what may be spaghetti code. The longer a major player puts off a 64-bit release the more likely, I think, the code base is problematical.

Here are two external links about some of the issues in porting 32-bit stuff to 64-bit.

This is from Oracle (from 2011, updated recently):

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/serve ... 37107.html

and this is from Program Verification Systems (from 2009):

http://www.viva64.com/en/a/0042/

You mention the resource speed difference of 64-bit. Here is a summary from the latter reference (on Windows):

"Recompilation of a program for a 64-bit system will allow it to use large sizes of main memory, and will also speed up its operation by 5-15%. Increase in 5-10% will be gained due to using the 64-bit processor's architectural abilities, for example a larger number of registers. The rest of the speed increase of 1-5% is explained by the absence of the WOW64 layer, which translates API calls between 32-bit applications and a 64-bit operation system."

lol, here's a new observation I think:

I installed the AIR music tech pack the other day and it broke all my other iLok plugins, but the AIR plugins would still work. So today just for the fun of it I installed the Adaptiverb demo and that just now kicked out all my AIR plugins (i.e. they would show up as registered but not run).

So basically, it seems there's a bug in iLok where the latest iLok plugin added kicks breaks the registration of any the older ones.

I think it's pretty safe to say based on these observations that it has nothing to do with windows updates as there were none performed on my PC since yesterday and the AIR plugins worked today until I installed Adaptiverb. Then they stopped working like the rest.

FWIW, my license manager is v3.0.3.1468 (r33772), win10pro 64bit. Software iLok.

Anyway, I then deactivated them all, in bulk, reactivated them all (in bulk) and they work now again. But there's definitely a bug in iLok/PACE. Again. I'm not even relieved anymore that I got it to work again.

Yaaaaaas, same setup here . Closed my DAW, loaded the iLok manager selected everything and clicked 'deactivate', selected everything again and clicked 'activate'... and BAM all good again !

(The only thing that threw me off was my free license of iZotope DDLY plugin - If I had that selected in my whole list I couldn't see my computer as an activation destination, but if not selected then I could :) )

nope. submitted 2 support tickets over the weekend. i did have several emails with Denis at zynaptiq who was in touch with iLok and did sen me some process to go through to collect some logs that might help them figure out what's going on. i was sent a "verbose" installer of the licenser app and a script to run with instructions on steps to take to generate log files that i then zipped and sent to zynaptiq who forwarded them to iLok.

so, that happened over the weekend. I take the silence from iLok to mean they don't have any solution yet. hopefully i'll hear back soon.

my licenses have vanished and i'm not sure where they are. shrug. :help:

just quoting my post so the details make it to this page.

also, i got a reply from iLok this morning but it says nothing about the previous actions (script/logs i sent etc). i was told some trivial information about the iLok licenser app that is obvious and none of the questions i asked in my support ticket were answered. the person might as well have just sent me a link to the iLok support page. what a waste of time. so far absolutely zero help or solutions from iLok.

Zynaptiq has been way more helpful about this and it's probably not even their fault.
