Rob Papen can have only one additive capable synth?db3 wrote:Numanoid wrote:It does additive synthesis which is what the sound of the 80's was built on, so it should be possible yeah.
Blade's the additive one.
But will Predator 2 be compatible with Prism?

I had to read this five times to guess at what the heck you could possibly mean. I've only gotten so far as assuming 1. you meant Blade, not predator, because Blade is specifically an additive synth, whereas Predator is a subtractive synth; and 2. you meant FM synthesis was the foundation of 80's music, not additive. Similar, yes, but not the same.Numanoid wrote:It does additive synthesis which is what the sound of the 80's was built on, so it should be possible yeah.

My number one and only request: Better preset organization.
Unlike Blue, Albino and their other offerings, if say I'm looking for a pad, there are no dedicared banks. Everything is just semi randomly scattered around in some kind of semi order. In this day and age of a zillion presets, I just don't have the time and will automatically reach for Blue or a more convenient synth.

And older as well as brand new clients have to pay for the upgrade? What is special about those who bought it within that 2-month time window?Aloysius wrote:According to Rob Papen's own Newsletter:

I totally agree. I'm hoping Predator will have modern, organized banks like Blue2.musicdoc wrote:My number one and only request: Better preset organization.

To answer your questions, somehow belated:mholloway wrote:I had to read this five times to guess at what the heck you could possibly mean. 1) According to KVR database: Predator features 3 Oscillators with 128 waves including Analogue, Additive and Spectral type of waveforms
2) Synclavier II does additive synthesis and is as much a contributor to the 80's type of sound as DX7

I guess, Predator contains waveforms which have been generated by additive synthesis with some other tools, but it doesn't do additive synthesis itself.

Hopefully soon.
