Yeah? Icarus produced a lot of hype. Same with Behringer Deep Mind 12. I at least feel it's a good idea to have some kind of teaser, than absolutely nothing, like in this case. It's really not difficult to tease people who wait for the synth a bit. 2 or 3 videos, or some sound demos. GUI teasers. Feature teasers. Whatever. Doesn't really take much, and the people talk about your product. I wonder why they don't do it for Predator 2.

There has been a lot of discussion for that. IMO, people want to show that they're smart, and don't get fooled by marketing bogus, but at the same time like to be teased, and fall for that kind of marketing. At least that's my just made up theory.

Frankly, i think that Tone2 did a real good job, considering that even people who usually didn't seem so interested in their synth here showed some real interest in Icarus. I would say, mission accomplished pretty well.

Which protection system does Papen use? When I get my new computer, I don't want any iLok, Pace, eLicenser, etc. on it, so I am looking for an alternative to Hybrid, and I think Predator might be one option.
Which other synths is its basic sound character similar to?

I assume that as soon as the new version becomes available, the offer is no longer valid. So one would have to buy it now, without knowing what exactly has improved. Sounds risky, given it is not exactly a cheap synth...

It is challenge/response. You get to activate it on 2 computers at once but I'm reasonably sure you have the ability to deactivate as well (and thus manage your own two activations).

Does that mean that one can install and activate it as often as necessary, or is there a limit like with other systems so that you have to explain to the developer why you want to activate it yet again? I don't want such limitations.

I'm not sure that Predator or/and Blue are good choices for you! They both come with thousands of very well done presets by Rob Papen, so users won't need that much additional 3rd party presets.

For me, I really don't know! I don't need another synth, that for sure, but I like a lot the GUI/Design/Sound of Predator. I find the GUI and colours very inviting and cute. I suppose things can only get better with version 2.
