I found the concept of Rayblaster quite amazing and all this Icarus talk has got me looking into it. The speech synthesis thing looks pretty powerful.Examigan wrote:For me, it's a tie

I liked Rayblaster, but also found it a bit limiting in timbral flexibility in a practical usability sense. Icarus has the same sonic character I liked from Rayblaster, but I find it easier and more intuitively flexible. Icarus is more open ended.electro wrote:I found the concept of Rayblaster quite amazing and all this Icarus talk has got me looking into it. Arcsyn!
It may not have the power of the big boys, but that's to it's advantage. Easy to manage and yet capable of some truly unique sounds.

I'll agree with ArcSyn, at this point in the year. Anything that outdoes it in the next 4 months will have to be pretty hot stuff.
NI Form maybe? Plogue ChipSynth? A surprise? Time will tell

nothing beat reaktor and mpowersynth for me yet but i didn t try many of the newer stuff need to demo softube modular and arcsynth , icarus i don't like just the interface is a turn off and the sound when pushed more in extreme theory was a bit weak to me, kinda like a older plugin but maybe it was a specific case, i didn t give the synth a proper try cause of the interface

My guts: The guy who made all, should have stick to making the sound alright and get someone else for the GUI.Synthetic Wav wrote: Icarus i don't like just the interface is a turn off [...]
It is just too much work to get all right + an established company should invest in that..imho.
Coffee alone does not bring you further at one point.
Reaktor 6 seems best so far this year. Predator 2 will win...

MMhhhhh....the more i play with the Moog Model 15 app the more i like it...even when i doesn´t at the beginning (like Icarus) and hate patching virtual cables.
But even when it´s an emulation of an old synth it feels more straight forward than many desktop plug-ins and other apps.
The sharp GUI, the options to modulate and play expressive, audio bridge options, midi bridge, including 14 bit everywhere, MPE midi support, audio rate modulation everywhere, sound quality and raw power.....etc.
I wish it was a plug-in
If Moog will release their other synths as well as app in the future with extended features and midi options as well....the future looks bright.
I mean for 30 bucks it´s maybe the most synth bang for buck (beside freeware of course).
It has a certain character but it just blows me away on a freaking smartphone

I own the NED plugin and yep its great 2.Most of all didn't have to sell a kidney to get it like you would have had to for the hardware

Well, although I like a lot Element 2, but I have checked and it is released in the late 2015. Anyway, comparing it with another synths, now I believe it is Reaktor 6OneOfManyPauls wrote:fair enoughEnGee wrote:I find it really a great synth. I love its sound and design. I didn't give it much attention, but the blocks really pushed it ahead. It also did that with a better performance than Reaktor 5! That is impressive
Another candidate might be Predator 2 (if it is what I think, that is, Predator Plus). So, now they are between those two. Let's see what Predator 2 will bring
Oh, and Icarus should be there as well (although I still prefer Serum), but Tone2 did a great sounding synth with incredible low cpu usage
So, my list would be:
1. Reaktor 6
2. Predator 2
3. Icarus
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

All 3 of those over Synclavier V? Reaktor 6 is 2015 anyway so it doesn't qualify. You can't have Predator 2 listed for Synth of the year since it doesn't exist yetEnGee wrote:Well, although I like a lot Element 2, but I have checked and it is released in the late 2015.
