But it's still not an Emulator II.Examigan wrote:Darklight is pretty coolDrGonzo wrote:Thanks for the link. I remember reading about this years ago - so it's still under development? I want TR909, 808, 303 and the Mini Moog...
Really, I cannot come up with one synth I really miss ITB.

Ooh... good one, but I doubt THAT will happen. Ever. Dave Smith is not really too optimistic about softwarecryophonik wrote:Poly Evolver.

Pretty much with you there.pdxindy wrote:Nothing... software is already so far superior to hardware that there is only the future to look to!!
There are some things I get nostalgic about though, even though I think their sound is, for the most part covered, and often done better.
For nostalgia reasons only:
Peavey DPMV3; Kawai K5m & the sample library I used to have with my Peavey DPM SP. I'm also one that feels that all the current emulations of my old Memorymoog pale in comparison. But I have to admit that with Diva; Bazille; Zebra2HZ, I really don't miss any of them.
As an updated replacement to my current hardware:
Korg Radias (although the u-he synths do its sound well.)
Roland V-Synth-GT (specifically the APS & VP vocoder engines, as the u-he again nails the analog part very well.)
I would like to see the Korg Legacy collection get a major update also.
So like pdxindy, I'm looking more towards the future...

+100 for DW-8000. My first synth, I have some recordings with it and still think, how can I get that sound. it was bad ass.
I have a Roland Jupiter-80 is pretty sweet, would love to see that in a plugin, but I know we never will.

Korg DSS-1 with updated os and modded in it's full glory:
- additive synthesis
- sampling (6 bit - 12 bit) where two samples can be hardsynced
- multisample thingy I never understood
- analog filter 12 db & 24 db lp (same like DW 8000)
- unison mode
- those funky envelopes
- those creamy double digital delay
plus original dss1 file import or at least the factory sound bank with some of the original M1 sounds.

Maybe a really open (polyphonic) modular system from Moog!
The Model 15 app (even it's not my cup of tea) is a beast! Raw power!
But however, 14 bit midi (damn awesome when you modulate the 12 octave range OSC driver), MPE midi and audio rate modulation everywhere.
Already beats the hardware!

I would love to have a proper emulation of the Hammond Novachord.
I got both Kontakt based versions from Hollow Sun and Soniccouture where that from SC has a proper synth GUI (based on Kontakt scripting) to program your own sounds. Anyway having a proper emulation that is not based on samples would be great.
I know that Novachords are VERY rae, especially in working condition which is obviozs as they were builtaolmost 80 years (!!) ago (1938-1942). It seemed to be built from 168 vacuum tubes and was the first commercially available synthesizer with a proper keyboard (unlike the Trautonium).
The Novachords used for the 2 Kontakt libraries took an insane amount of time and also a lot of money to get them working again.
Programming the Novachord seems to be quite unusual. Actually you seem to combine the outputs of multiple different filters (including the 3 "Resonators") taht are fed by the same waveform (should be a Sawtooth) to get the sound. To this the envelope and vibrato are added and it sounds even better with a Chorus/Ensemble effect added.
Pictures of the full instrument (before and after restauration) and the panel:

The GUI of the Soniccouture Kontakt instruments includes a version based on the original features (knobs/switches) and one advanced version with additional ones.
The website about the Novachord restauration (that one used by Soniccouture) with lots of pictures:

Another website about the Novachord (the synth used by Hollow Sun):

PS:
My commercial "Atmosphericc Transients" sounbank for Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V includes some samples and patches based on Soniccouture Novachord based on my own patches created there and teh sampels used with official permisson by Soniccouture (those samples are single WAV files with loops, no multisamples).

I had a DW-6000 and didn't like it much at the time. I wouldn't mind giving it another try today, but I sold it off ages ago.
Some of my hardware synths, I prefer in their current form factor because working with them that way is either inspiring/fun or their limited format brings a different kind of usage that gives me a creative boost.
But the Bastl Trinity modules, cute as they are, I'd prefer in software form. The user experience on those is kind of awkward really. Same for the AY-3, but I'd want to keep 100% of its goofiness (weird quantized LFO/envelopes etc.)
My Atmegatron is borderline. I really like the thing physically, with its big encoders and classy case... but I'd happily have a software version instead just to access multiple instances in a project without bouncing to audio and uploading different firmware.
