FWIW, i never thought Firebird sounded exactly brilliant either. It has a very sheen, pseudo-punchy touch to it, which makes it sound quite "synthetic". I don't think anyone is able to understand that anyway, but that's how i always felt when i tried it out.
Everything else which came after from Tone2 sounds better IMO. Never really liked the sound demos for Predator either though, and it's a few years old too, so.

I'm still demoing the presets of v1 of course. It just sounds like Albino! It sounds more interesting than Hybrid 3 for me.
I like it a lot really. It can do many types of sounds but I like it mostly to be in the background of other synths (like Dune 2 and Serum), although it can do nice lead sounds

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Synthetic for a synth i mean. Firebird features the same psychoacoustic enhancements Tone2 also features in their other synth, only that you can't turn it off in Firebird. Hence the "synthetic" sound i guess. Although the other Tone2 synths also have that "Tone2 sound", with or without psychoacoustic stuff activated. Not quite as harsh as Firebird though.Numanoid wrote:I am old school and like synths that sound quite syntheticchk071 wrote:which makes it sound quite "synthetic". .![]()

Firebird and Predator sound nothing alike. Again I'll ask Pyrotek45....what freeware sounds like Predator and/or Blue II.Numanoid wrote:Firebird+ maybe, but that was once payware, and is only 32 bit stillTeksonik wrote:What freeware sounds like Predator ?Pyrotek45 wrote:too bad his synths sound like freeware

I did not say that you said Predator 2 sounded like Firebird.Numanoid wrote:Did I say Predator v2 sounds like Firebird+ ?fluffy_little_something wrote:Well, the regular price of Predator 2 will be 150 bucks like with v1. And that is pretty much the same price as Sylenth1's.
How would I be able to say something like that before even the demo is out?
So we are talking about the price of Predator v1 that is costing a lot less than Sylenth1 now.
In your post down there you suggested that Predator might sound like Firebird.
Even Predator 1 should sound way superior to Firebird.
And the price? Until recently Predator 1 cost 150 dollars. The current state is just a promotion to boost upgrades/sales before the new version comes out.

I think the knock on freeware synths is that they either sound thin and lifeless or extremely limited.
But then folks need to listen to some of the OSC challenges and they'll see that, in many cases, this isn't true.
Are there some freeware synths that sound awful? Absolutely. But don't tell me Tyrell N6 sounds terrible, or Synth1 or Sonigen Modular.
Essentially, what paid synths have over free synths is features, FX, more modulation routings, etc. But sound wise, many free synths sound just as good as paid for synths, especially when you add your own external FX.
Most of the freeware synths that I had I got rid of not so much because they sounded bad but because they were 32 bit and kept crashing. But the ones I've kept are excellent and wouldn't get rid of them for anything, especially the TAL stuff.
Like I said, go listen to the OSC stuff and tell me those synths sound bad.

Can I ask you two serious questions ? Are you 12 years old ? Or do you mistakenly think you are funny ?Numanoid wrote:OK Officer, case closed, I know not to mess with the lawmenTeksonik wrote:Firebird and Predator sound nothing alike.

When did this become a general freeware .vs payware thread ? Pyrotek45 made the claim that Rob Papen's synths "sound like freeware". I simply asked him to tell me which freeware synths sound like Predator or Blue II. Maybe he's got secret monster freeware synths that will be so awesome that I will be able to sell my Predator and Blue II but I'm quite confident there is less than a 1% chance of that happening........wagtunes wrote:I think the knock on freeware synths is that they either sound thin and lifeless or extremely limited.

Are you the same Teksonik user that keep bugging me about being a policeman all the time. And now you want to interrogate me in a "serious" mannerTeksonik wrote:Can I ask you two serious questions ?

As far as X synth sounding like Y synth, there are a lot of synths out there that can or do sound relatively close to another synth. There are also synths out there that are so unique that nothing sounds like them. But those are the exceptions and not so much the rule.
As for whether or not there is a freeware synth that sounds like Preditor or Blue II, doubtful because of all the "extras" built into these synths, extras that all freeware synths (at least all the ones I've found) are lacking.

And you the same Numanoid who so wants to be the KVR police and gets annoyed when he's called out for it....now you're trying to call me out for something completely unrelated. So yes that is what we call a Hypocrite around my parts and quite frankly we call that being pathetic as well.......Numanoid wrote:Are you the same Teksonik user that keep bugging me about being a policeman all the time. Anyway enough of this senseless bickering or we'll both be guilty of acting like 12 year olds.........

I'm sorry I didn't realize you were Pyrotek45's official spokesman. The question was directed at him since he made the claim.....But he hasn't answered yet so perhaps his claim is unsupported by facts.wagtunes wrote:And I was simply explaining what he meant by "Sounds like freeware."
